We are currently caring for my two youngest D.C. as my DiL has been at the hospital for the last 72 hours. Her mum is in the last hours of her life. We have known her parents since she and my son first met 10 years ago. During that time a strong friendship grew between us and we spend days out with them and visit each other about once a month.
She was an amazing woman so kind to my son, so loving and open-hearted and she will be so missed. I know my DiL is very worried about her Dad. Although her mum has been ill for many years and been in and out of hospital, the end now has come quite suddenly. She was admitted to hospital for an infection but deteriorated rapidly.
We want to support her husband as much as we can but have never lost anyone close to our own age before. We don’t drive and live a 90minute journey away.So I wonder if anyone who has lost a partner could say what things others did that were really helpful to you.
