Your cooker.

Mine is almost 30 years old. (That's how long I've had it, and it was bought as reconditioned)
It still cooks, the gas rings light ok. I've rubbed down and painted a couple of tiny rusty areas, and I'm planning on keeping it for the time being.

Mine is a very new Hotpoint and it is way beyond me. I can switch it on to cook what I want, end of. I tried to get the clock working because the cooker will not work without it running. The clock is working backwards but I can cook food, that is all I am bothered about.

My last cooker, a Belling (electric with ceramic hob), only lasted 4 years before all four hobs started playing up and I decided it wasn't probably wasn't worth repairing. I replaced it with a Leisure, and have had have the oven on that repaired recently, also at just 4 years old.
Things certainly ain't what they used to be, and I have just about lost all hope now of ever having an 'old faithful' electrical applience of any type (with the exception of my 20 year old microwave oven/grill)!

Mine is a Zanussi double built in oven. It is ok nothing more.it replaced a Caple which in 10 years needed 3 new elements and 2 sets of door hinges which in the end would not stay closed.
My first cooker was a belling which lasted for years but the second belling with ceramic hob was not good.
A Valor gas cooker didn't stay the course either.
I prefer an electric oven and gas hob which I have now.

Having lived in a number of places with no gas, I've always had an electric oven, and my present one, now 15+ years old, has a ceramic hop so heats up / cools down rapidly as per gas and is absoultely fine by me. The only thing that has gone wrong in all that time, is the element in the top oven/grill, which I must replace as I miss that.

When we first got married 40+years ago we had a second hand Parkinson Cowan and I loved it .no bells or whistles. Just a timer and auto switch on for setting to come on while at work.
When we moved house we left it in the house for newlyweds who bought The House.
I Bought A Zanussi with grill In the oven and i Hated It From Day One.
Then I had a Canon professional and it had a tiny gas ring on top along with 2large rings and a medium sized ring ,the tiny one was perfect for simmering. Then when we had a new kitchen we had another Canon Harrogate and it's been good but the tiny ring is missing and it has 2 large rings and 2 medium rings .
I really miss the tiny ring and wished that is noticed it was not there when I purchased it. I'm in the process of looking for a new one now and I'm not sure if I want to go gas ,electric or a mixed like the one I have now the oven door is no longer shutting properly and I'm sure the fan is not working as it once did.

5-ring gas hob and two single electric ovens. All fairly new. Happy with this set up.

I have a new electric cooker, my old one of nearly 20 years was repaired twice, once fairly recently, and having decided to heat the oven to 220 degrees each time I switched it on it then decided to turn the oven on when I wasn’t looking, so sadly it had to go.

To replace my old cooker like for like, would have cost over £1000.00, but on the day we bought the new one there was a sale on so I got one for £400.

It isn’t as fast on the hob as my old one, but I can cook things without them being burnt to a crisp. The ovens are a bit smaller, but I don’t have a houseful of children anymore.

But I can’t get used to which knob to turn for which ring, so I have to put my glasses on each time and I’d much rather have my old one back.

We don’t have gas in our village and I don’t have an outside wall to have gas bottles, otherwise I would chosen a gas cooker.

I have an oil fired Rayburn which is around 20 years old. Had two parts replaced in all that time. It also does all the heating and hot water for the house.

It does have it's drawbacks, no grill and it takes a long time to get up to heat but can be switched off half an hour before cooking is finished as it also takes a long time to cool down!

Just bought new Canon by Hotpont Carrick has cooker to replace 19 year old Canon. This appeared to be the only has cooker I could get with a timer to start the oven when we are out. DH says he doesn't think the burners are as fierce as the old cooker, haven't used it enough to know.

When we had the kitchen replaced 15 years ago I chose a Rangemaster which has a gas oven, grill and 5 ring hob along with a tall narrow fan oven. I love it! I can use the gas oven to slow cook or heat plates and dishes, I can cook a whole roast meal for DH and I in the fan oven. I can set it to come on while we are out if needed (rarely use this facility) and I have only had to have the bulb replaced.

DH nearly had a fit when he found out the cost but has since learned to switch on the fan oven! DH prevailed in the choice of colour and, in retrospect, I might have chosen cream instead of black but it doesn't hugely bother me.

Mines a Bosch double oven it’s about 8 yrs old now but I’ve always loved it’s easy to use and the hob requires just a wipe, in fact if I eventually get a new kitchen I’d like to keep it. I’ve never liked gas.

I replaced a 10 year old Rangemaster dual fuel double oven with 5 gas rings when we changed the kitchen last year - there was nothing wrong with it and the man who bought it for his mother said she was thrilled with it. I've now got the Neff single oven with slide in door with an AEG induction hob. It's fine for the amount of cooking I do - there are only two of us. I sometimes miss the bigger one but rarely used the small side oven and this one is much easier to clean.

I am on my second Neff double fan oven cooker, and I am as happy with it as I was with the first one which was still going strong in our last house. It doesn't have a slide under door, which would be useful, but it's easy to clean and gives good results.

Ours is a double oven Smeg, about 5 years old. We have LPG gas for cooking and it is amazingly economical.Love having two ovens plus fan and turbo.

We have an Aga. We love it! It runs on gas and is on all the time though we tend to turn it off from May to August otherwise the kitchen gets too warm. We also have a fitted electric fan oven and gas hob which we use in Summer.

A double oven Smeg for me. It’s stainless steel, slot in and one day will be replaced with another. It owes me nothing at all after over 12 years.

I love my 10 month cooker. Its a Neff. The best thing about it is that it cleans itself. Yes it was expensive, but worth every penny. I have MS and this function I find so usefull.

I changed from all gas to induction hob and double electric oven about ten years ago. Wouldn't go back to gas again. The hob is wonderful. But, electric appliances don't last like gas ones do so that's the downside.

Like you kittylester, we have a Rangemaster. Five gas burners, gas grill, large gas oven and smaller electric fan oven. We had one at our previous house and I liked it so much that we got a new one when we moved. It's 10 years old now and the thermostat has gone on the big oven (which we rarely use for just the two of us, but great for when family come). I'm hoping we can get it fixed!

For 20 years I had a lovely all-gas range cooker, but eventually parts became hard to source and repairs became expensive, so I bought a new one.

I couldn't find an all-gas cooker the right size and with all the features I wanted so I bought a dual fuel cooker. I have tried for three years now and I really do not like it. One of the oven doors bounces open, but not enough to easily notice (magnetic catch) and every time I open the oven door, a blast of air from the fan assisted oven threatens to remove my eyebrows and scorch my face. The grill is in a fixed position and cannot be changed.

We are planning a kitchen extension and new kitchen, I am trying to convince myself that I can justify replacing my cooker when this happens.

Electric with a ceramic hob ( which I love, just a wipe down needed.)
The only thing I miss is an eye level grill.

I have a gas hob which I like and a Bosch electric oven which is ideal. It has a fast heat-up setting which I can then set to fan when it has reached the right heat. I can use the timer, but the clock has defeated me. DS set it for me, but I find it impossible to re-set when the clocks change. Life's too short!
