An Ooh-Er moment!!

This morning I took all the cushions off my sofa in order to vacuum it. Nestling down in the groove at the back was a slip of paper. I removed it, and to my surprise, it was the label from a Christmas gift. It was addressed to my son from his aunt, uncle and eldest cousin. The Ooh-Er moment comes now! The label was a charity label from "The Spastics Society", the aunt and uncle in question are my sister and BiL and the cousin, my eldest nephew. My sister has three sons! This label must be from 1984 or 85. We've had two house moves and four new sofas since then. Where has it come from?

Well, isn’t that strange?
To quote Sherlock Homes though, ‘ once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever answer is left, however improbable, will be the right one’ grin That may not be a totally accurate quote by the way, but near enough.
So, it was in a cushion cover and worked it’s way out?

Not inside anything lemongrove. Just sitting at the back of the sofa under the seat cushions. It wasn't there the last time I cleaned under them.

Well if it’s a new sofa, then you must have put your Christmas decs and gift wrapping stuff on the sofa in December, unknown to you the old gift tag was amongst the wrapping paper/ old Christmas cards and it fell out.
Obvs.....

The Truth Is Out There! ?

I wonder if the house goblin thought he would play a prank on you??

I think Situp is very likely right though.

What Situp said!

Definitely a house elf.

It is gremlins or poltergists hilda
My Ooh ha moment cane a month ago.
A few months ago we mislaid a pair of nail flippers and a file for removing hard skin
5 weeks ago my H was admitted to hospital after having a fall at home. It was decided to admit him ad
I went home at 8: 30pm saying I would bring his things into him the next morning.
I got a bag out of the spare wardrobe which was last used in August last year. I washed his dressing gown, packed pyjamas., washing things etc and took them in.
I often went through his thing while he was in for over 2 weeks.
When he came home, in the bottom of the bad were the nail flippers and the file.
I had checked his pockets before his dressing gown went in the wash for tissues and the bag was completely empty and unused for months. I am still at a loss as to where they came from.
Unbeknown to me my cleaner's mother was in the same ward at the same time. She arrived home with 3 pairs of size 20 knickers, she is at most a 12!!
The hospital don't do personal laundry so how they got into her locker is another mystery.

Ah, but I didn't put any Christmas paraphernalia on the sofa. I keep all that stuff in boxes which were on the floor. My DGC have been rummaging about in my attic though, so I wonder...

annsixty Thu 29-Mar-18 21:44:33

Where did flippers come from? Clippers, clippers!!

annsixty Thu 29-Mar-18 21:46:47

Realised lots of typing errors in that, definitely gremlins.

hildajenniJ Thu 29-Mar-18 21:47:36

But then, they didn't bring any of the stuff downstairs. It all went back into the attic after they were finished playing.

Well HJJ it wasn’t magic, so it was either the GCs or someone is messing with your head!

DD has a china tureeen which belonged to my parents. She was very close to both of them, especially my father. She used it a few times, put it into store, brought it out to use again in her new house and inside was an old penny which she had never seen before. The date on the penny was 1920, the year of her grandfather’s birth. Ooh-er indeed.

Situpstraight Fri 30-Mar-18 10:22:50

Spooky or what?

paddyann Fri 30-Mar-18 12:38:37

I found a small "angel" porcelain figure on the living room floor .No idea where it came from and no one else in the house knows either ,strangely the same week I found my Dads credit card that I had kept because of his beautiful signature on the back...it was on the kitchen floor ,last seen in a bag in the attic, years ago.Dad died 24 years ago .No one has been in the attic since Christmas time .

A friend of mine found a photograph of a strange couple on her bedroom floor. Despite asking everyone she knew if they recognised the people she has never found out who they were? shock

Ooh, weird! Gremlins in the system. I'm also impressed at how many sofas you've had, HildaJenniJ! grin

My Ooh-Er story is about underwear. We had had a holiday somewhere without laundry facilities. On the way home, we stopped over at my sister-in-law's and she put a couple of washes on for us to tide us over.

When I got home, I found a strange bra in the clean stuff so I assumed it belonged to my SIL or her teenage daughter and posted it back to her. She later called me to say it didn't belong to either them and from that day to this, we've no idea where it came from. grin
