Christmas Wish List

Hunter Davies has written a Christmas Wish List, some sad, some amusing. Top of his list is to have his late wife, the novelist Margaret Forster, back for a day. What would be on your Christmas wish list?
He had a list of 20....
Mine, for starters, off the top of my head, would be :

1. Have my late DH back for Christmas Day with all the family so he could meet the grandchildren born after he died. My Mum and Dad could come too ....
2. Have a 'tame' handyman available 24/7 to sort out all the house and garden problems immediately they happen
3. Wake up on Christmas morning and hear that Donald Trump has been deposed and has been 'disappeared' along with his dreadful family and hangers-on
4. Ditto the eejit from North Korea whose name I can't remember/spell
5. Peace in the middle East and the rest of the world for that matter
6. The end of poverty throughout the world. Enough food, shelter and water for everyone
7. Ban the word 'celebrity' when used out of context
8. All religions united in peace and harmony
9. To have enough funds to live comfortably for the rest of my days and to travel while I am still able
10. Restrict the excesses of the 1st world. Too much unnecessary 'stuff' cluttering up our lives
11. Someone with whom to share my bounty ......tha's probably pushing the wishes a bit tchgrin

I'll probably think of more later, but now over to you....

Ditto 3,4,5, & 6
5. Have my parents back for a day to meet their grandsons born after they passed away
6. Have all my family together on Christmas day while one half are here from abroad
7. To rescue all the animals in distress and abuse
8. To win enough on the lottery to help family
9. To retire and have enough to do to keep us occupied from boredom
10. To end my/our days in peace and health

Merry Christmas everyone tchsmile

Similar to all of the above plus
To have Brexit done and dusted and all sides in agreement with a win win all round. (Some hope).

NfkDumpling Sat 23-Dec-17 07:22:42

Much the same from me. Just as the beauty queens say - world peace, tolerance, harmony and care for the environment.

For me, I would like overnight, a new right knee, a good memory and a healthy husband please. And a big win from Ernie so I can help the DC sort all their money problems. (I don't do the lottery). Oh, and the will power to diet successfully.

I can’t improve on the above except to say that I would like us to find a way to stop mankind killing the planet with our toxins and mess.

To wake up and find the world is inhabited only by kind and caring people and the rest have vanished without trace.

Auntieflo Sat 23-Dec-17 08:30:57

Sounds like a great list, and I can't add anything more, at the moment.
Oh, and like NfkDumpling, Ernie could look this way for a minute and spread his largesse, but, I don't do the lottery either. tchsmile

3. Lottie be cured.
4. Hands free of arthritis so I can cross stitch again
5. Council give me house other side of bridge
6. Eat normally again
7. Company
8. Find g g g uncle William,1835 - ? ,been looking for him for 15 years.
9. A jigsaw table
10. Forgiveness for the most selfish wish list possible

I couldn't bear to have dearly departed relatives back for just one day. I'd rather not see them at all than face the pain of having to say goodbye again.

ninathenana Sat 23-Dec-17 10:27:14

World peace.
Religious harmony.
End to world poverty and starvation.
No more abuse inflicted on children or adults.
For me and those I know and love to have healthy happy lives.

Oh yeah and ..
To be a size 10 for ever no matter what I ate.

AnneGran Sat 23-Dec-17 23:08:52

Marmight. All of the above. I couldn't improve on your list! I wish you a very Happy Christmas even though it can never be 'ideal' . ??

Chewbacca Sat 23-Dec-17 23:12:26

My Christmas wish would be for all your wishes come true.

I agree with all the lovely things above.

I read the Hunter Davis article and, as always, it struck a cord. It's funny that some people feel like a friend of long standing even if we've never met them - he's one such.

kittylester Sun 24-Dec-17 06:36:21

Though I've just checked and he's a chunk older than me.

Luckygirl Sun 24-Dec-17 09:18:01

1. To have my OH back - the one I am living with bears scant resemblance to the one I married. Bugger PD.

That's it!

Merry Xmas to all tchsmile

kittylester Sun 24-Dec-17 09:33:00

(((Hugs))) Lucky.

I'm sure there are a fair few on here who would like that. tchsad

Pittcity Sun 24-Dec-17 09:41:40

I'd go along with most of the above and agree most with merlot and Chewbacca
I'd wish for a big family Christmas with love and laughter and none of the hard work!

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 24-Dec-17 09:57:01

Ditto many of yours. World peace and tolerance of others. To have my dear late husband back with no motor neurone disease.
Perfect hair, ten nice nails all at once all the time, a slim waist with a flat stomach, bunions to disappear. Magic powers,
A big fat lotto win.
And as I'm suffering with this dreaded lurgy which seems to have hit everyone - no more viruses ever again.

I would like my mother transported back to England for the day. She is getting very bored now because she can't really do anything as she is losing control of her arms and everyone she had made friends with in the centre she lives at has died. She has a very good care agency but she won't have them in as often as she should because of the cost (which she won't let me contribute too).
Other than that I would like us to stop being such a spiteful, judgmental country. We weren't always like this.

fitwell Sun 24-Dec-17 10:12:37

I only wish that my mum had met my granddaughter she is such a delight, mum doted on my children but I often dream of her but when I wake am glad that I do not have to go through her final days again
reduce plastic
find me something to wear for a wedding I have on Wednesday,

inishowen Sun 24-Dec-17 10:29:07

I go along with the OP's wishes. I'd also like to have a team of cleaners to come today to titivate my house. Also I'd like caterers to come tomorrow and do the cooking. Wishful thinking!

maryhoffman37 Sun 24-Dec-17 10:34:36

Brexit reversed, Jeremy Corbyn in number 10, Trump impeached, single use plastics banned, no homeless people on the streets, the Grenfell survivors all housed safely and suitably, and most of all my lovely sister restored to the person she used to be from the devastating stroke she had nearly three years ago. (I know that last one is selfish).

Pinkshoes26 Sun 24-Dec-17 10:41:43

Health is my first. I am in good health but would like better teeth. 2nd ban money. By having to live with money we have the rich v poor. I would like everyone to be equal. 3rd - no one goes hungry around our world. Something for me! Well! I would like to loose x2 stone in weight. This will be started in the new year with smaller meals.

GrannieBumble Sun 24-Dec-17 10:44:50

Anniebach, I play jigsaws on my computer, you can join Jigsaw World through Facebook plus there is a Facebook 'Jigsaw World Puzzlers Group' & they have some really unusual puzzles ! I have an adjustable bed table/ computer desk thing which I have on my chair !

Miep1 Sun 24-Dec-17 11:04:55

All of the above re: world peace, end to suffering, deposement (is there such a word) of Trump etc. And, purely for selfish reasons
My stepmother to turn into a rational human being and ship all my childhood memories back
No more of my cats to get run over
For my best friend to go back to how she felt 25 years ago
For my daughters to at least try to make contact
