Music

I have an iPod nano and on it is all my favourite music on it from my CD collection, which is large and wonderful.

I lie in bed with earphones (the flat ones in a stretchy hair band that you can lie on comfortably) and float away on this world of exquisite music. I put it on All Songs - Shuffle; and I get an assortment of the music reflecting my very wide taste in music.

I would not even begin to try and pick the one I like the best!

How many "on its" does one woman need?

Sadly, my Hi fi player has just given up the ghost so I can’t play my CDs on it, but was listening yesterday on my Walkman to Jacques Loussier’s ‘The Bach Book’. I am hoping that someone, in the face of heavy hints, will buy me Benny Anderson’s new album ‘Piano’ for my birthday. I have completely lost touch with post eighties modern music, I’m afraid. I couldn’t tell you what DS and DD are into these days.

matson thanks for that - I would never have thought of listening to Robert Plant, but I actually like it the two or three songs from his new album that I've just listened to.

I'm mostly a "passenger" when it comes to music listening, I'm too lazy to find my own. My husband's Christmas gift last year was a subscription to Spotify and he chooses the music and it plays all over the house. Spotify then suggests play lists for him, and our grown-up children do too. So we are always listening to music that is new and/or new to us.

When I'm on my own and therefore no Spotify and I want music to work to, I go to last.fm (an online radio station) and I ask for country and western music ... www.last.fm/home

We haven't had CDs in ages, gave them all away.

DH has over 13000 tracks on his IPod. If it's on shuffle I never know what I'll be listening to next.

BBC6 Music on the radio most of the time, they play a wide variety of music, particularly indie. I like Sleaford Mods, Shame and Idles at the moment, having heard them on there. I like Sounds of the Sixties on Radio 2, but not the new 6am start time on a Saturday! Also listen to Classic FM occasionally.
