Christmas cards

Any chance you could do mine please? I write a letter to go with most so it may take you a day or two.

You have got to be kidding!!

I am hoping to paint all mine -well those to family and close friends. I’ve completed one so far. I know that I will be dashing out to buy them.

Normally I am well ahead and would have quite a bit of 'shopping' in below the bed. Oooops, not this year. I'm quite laid back about it. Hate writing all the cards and these last few years it all seems to have more and more become my task.

So this year I'm on the 'laid back' path with regard to it all and will wait until dh realises there has been no C*******s action.

All I've done so far is buy some candied peel and glace cherries

I panic if I'm not organised well in advance. I hate the shop shop shop Christmas build up. Too many people rushing around. I like to have most of it done so that I don't get drawn into it.

I would like to be brave enough to just stop sending Christmas cards. I detest writing the messages and then addressing the envelopes and sticking all the bloomin' stamps on - and don't even mention the ones that require a letter to be enclosed. To be honest, I'm not that keen on opening the ones that are sent to us, either. Once the string in the hall is full up there is nowhere to put the others except in places where they will definitely fall down the back of a radiator. Grrr. I'm already getting into bah humbug mode.

I actually bought some today - to go with the ones I bought in January this year! When I remember where I put them!?.

I spent today setting up a charity Christmas card shop. Having unpacked 2 boxes of packs of cards I had to price the lot and arrange a selection in a display box before putting the rest in a storage box. Then I unpacked 3 boxes of gifts, wrapping paper, gift tags, advent calendars and small toys. Busy day but I enjoy helping to organise the shop and volunteer there one day a week. There are 50 charities cards in the shop and each one has a named volunteer doing a shift every week. Thousands of pounds are raised for the charities every year and approx 70 pence in every pound spent is returned to the charities.

I actually enjoy the rush and bustle of doing cards and putting up decorations at the last minute, sadly my card list is quite reduced now.

Sorry but the thought of doing Christmas cards at the start of October is just soooo depressing

I've not bought or sent any C********** cards for 3 years now and won't be doing any this year either. It became more and more of a chore and so I just stopped doing it. Instead, I donate to our local hospice.

Chewbacca. Good idea. Did you tell everyone what you were doing or did you just stop? Did anyone notice?

I bought my cards when I was on holiday. I haven't even thought about writing them yet. I did receive my usual sample from the mouth and foot painters. I usually buy some from them as I think it's a good cause.

I told friends that I wasn't doing them anymore NotTooOld, and that I wouldn't be at all offended if they crossed me off their lists too. Everyone, without exception, agreed that they thought it was a good idea to donate to a charity instead, but I still receive many cards each year nevertheless! Each to their own.

Actually, I love Christmas cards, both the sending and receiving of them, and the glittery the better.
Couldn’t bear to do them before December though.?

I don't send any, and any sent to me go in the bin.
Everybody knows the situation, and some still choose to send them.

Why put them in the bin? Somebody has been kind enough to send you one after all.

Because I dont like them, and everyone I know has been told what will happen if they send one. I do read them first.

I once, only once, wrote my Christmas cards well in advance. By the time posting time arrived, one person had died and two had divorced. Never did it again.

I'm with you on this one lemongrove I love sending and receiving Christmas cards.

I haven't sent C.......cards for about 10 years now. We go away in November, to early to send them and usually come back after Christmas and New Year, so this year will be the same. This year we come back from Cambodia just 2 weeks before Christmas as I am having a new knee around this time, so allowing for jet lag I will probably have about a week to get ready. Not a problem

HildajenniJ never been aware of foot and mouth painters for C cards. I'd be happy to buy some even though I'm in the U.S. Anyone mind putting up a link? Thanks!
