Heating on yet?

Ours is set at the same temperature at the sane times all year. It comes on on as and when but we can boost it as and when for any length if time.

I have noticed that it is coming on more lately.

Our house is weird as it is built of granite and takes time to get warm but then retains heat well.

I don’t have any central heating in my big old house but have I turned any heating on yet ? No managed with a blanket when I m sitting down watching T V at night I should be alright till a cold spell breaks through

Yes turned ours on two days ago and it is lovely to walk downstairs early in the morning for my cuppa and feel the warmth of the radiator in the hall.

I was fortunate to have a very happy childhood, however I remember huddling round the coal fire to keep warm and clutching a hot water bottle in bed under a blanket and eiderdown and still feeling cold, especially my nose. I just longed for the summer.

Yes. Ours has been coming on for an hour and, lately, for an hour and a half in the mornings and again in the evenings ever since the last warm weather spell we had, er, a couple of months ago.

Near 100% humidity makes a difference. It feels chiller (sic; chillier's too soppy for what I want to say), chill to the bones, when the local climate is doing its temperate rainforest act, which is a lot of the time because that's what our climate is.

Summer isn't really about warmth, certainly not heat, in western Scotland. It's about light.

Same as kitty, thermostat is set and so when it's needed on it comes. If we're out for the day we turn the thermostat down a couple of degrees, change it back when we get home. Ours is a 1980's bungalow, very easy to heat and keep warm which is as well as I am am chilly soul.

We've only had it on a couple of times for an hour haven't really felt chilly yet.

We put ours on for the first time last night at about six. It stayed on for a couple of hours and then went off and the house was still warm when we went to bed. There a lot of things I don't like about this house, but it is warmer and cheaper to heat than the last one!

Came back from holiday on Friday, thought we were very clever (smug face) putting it on remotely whilst waiting at Faro airport.
I'm waiting for the gas engineer to arrive this morning!

Not yet, Kent has been mild so far. I have put a cardi on for a couple of evenings.
I can't work out the flippin thermostat for our boiler.

We have to turn ours on/off manually. Our cottage is an 1850s breezeblock with very think walls. In the summer our front room is lovely and cool, but therefore gets very cold in the winter. The heating doesn't seem to get trapped in the bricks - does travel up, but doesn't stay. It is a detached house so no neighbourly benefits!

But yes, thankfully it has been mild in Kent to date and we are now at the jumper stage. Just about to have a bath and not looking forward to the chilly bit at the end!

Heating definitely on for a few hours in the morning and the evening. I spent too long, years ago, being cold and now things are a little easier (moneywise) I am NOT going to be cold again!!

Just a couple times in the evenings to take chill off.....hope not to make a habit quite yet.

I bought a house thermometer for my new house which has central heating. The thermometer shows humidity reading too, ashamed to say - I have no idea why I need to know this in a house ,this morning it reads - 82% , is this good , bad or doesn't matter ?

Put it on this morning for an hour to remove the 'nip' in the air, also been on for an hour around 6ish in the evenings on odd occasions. I always check the thermostat we have in our hallway to see the temp if i feel chilly, if it highlites 18degree it says put your heating on, if its below 16 degrees it states this is dangerous and puts you at risk of hypothermia, heart attacks and strokes. 21degrees seems to be the perfect temperature. We find that wearing layers of clothes and being busy means we dont have to have the heating on much, but first thing and in the evening when just sitting down we do.

We don't have central heating in our stone house, a very efficient wood burner and electric heaters if its really really cold. I don't feel the cold so it's unlikely we will have a fire before November. I have been known to sit there with the windows open when we first have a fire.
Never wear jumpers or cardigans, fortunately my husband has the same personal thermostat.

Same as kitty and corner, heating on 24/7 365 days. It is more cost effective to run the heating on the thermostat than starting from cold each time.

We've got a Hive and was feeling quite smug about the remote facility Marydoll - oh dear.

With the Hive we can have different Rempstone at different times of the day. Works well for us!

Blimey Christine wish I had your body thermostat it would save a lot of money although I don’t have central heating and haven’t felt the need for my gas fire yet I need my jumpers and a blanket and feel the cold so much more than I used to do

Temperature!!

Just for an hour in the morning. We are out and about a lot in the day but if the evening is chilly we light the log burner. We have never had one before and it is superb. Even cleaning it out is fun

I do not need the heating on early mornings yet as the house seems to be cosy. For the past week I have switched the heating on around 6-7pm and after about an hour it switches itself off and the house is warm. It was built in 1988 but I have spent a fair bit on insulation so it is not too costly to run but living on my own I am careful.

I live in the NE and also due to medical problems feel cold unless A - its a heatwave (rare occurrence here) or B - I'm abroad.
So sorry to say my heating doesn't get a break in the summer. I usually have to put it on at some point most days. I go out a lot through the day so that helps.

Like a couple of others, we keep our heating on all year and run it by thermostat rather than calendar. If it is chilly in June it comes on, conversely if it is warm in October it doesn't! Works well for us. Only set for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening, if we need it any other time we just pop it onto manual. When we moved into this house we spent a lot of money on a good heating system, lots of insulation so the house stays warm and is not too expensive to keep as warm as we want it. Generally find 21 degrees is comfortable. Like having warm towels in a warm bathroom when I get up!

I've had my heating on every morning and evening lately, These early mornings are freezing!
