Sorry, I can't find the original thread to add this to.

We have had a great time in Morecambe and have done lots of things suggested by GNs - big call out to Juggernaut for her enthusiasm.

The Midland Hotel is marvellous. Our room is very nice with lovely views over the Stone Jetty and the whole Bay. We have a balcony but the weather has not really been conducive to sitting out a lot. grin

The staff at the hotel are efficient and friendly, the food delicious and the Bellinis to die for! blush

We are sad that the rest of Morecambe seems so unloved and feel there needs to be a way to encourage visitors.

While we've been here, we have visited Heysham village, Kirkby Lonsdale (well worth it) and the Lake District (along with half the world apparently) and driven through some fabulous scenery. We have also dozed and read.

Thank you all for your comments on the original thread - you helped make a much needed break a success.

And, visit Morecambe and the Midland Hotel.

Glad that you had a nice time there, some seaside places are coming up,and others going down it seems.Weymouth has come up, Scarborough seems much the same as always, but Morecambe and Bridlington for example have gone down over the years. It would be good if all holiday spots in the UK
Undergo a renaissance in the next few years.?

I think Morecambe needs a focus to draw people here. A bit like Margate is attempting.

Forgot to mention Eric Morecambe - we saw him too!!!
