I had a crisis this morning when I thought I'd lost my cheque book. I keep it in my handbag, and there was one there but it seemed to be an old one, last check dated 2015 (I rarely use it.)
I looked all over, including tipping out the paper/plastic rubbish sack - no sign.
I was panicking because the last time I had a cheque book stolen someone had spent a fortune forging my signature - I don't think banks could check every cheque for forgeries.
Eventually I told husband and he got out the cheque book I thought was an old one, and I had been looking at the stubs the wrong way round ie the 2015 one was the first in the book, not the last (which was last week.) I'm so relieved.
But so stupid of me.
