Since watching DSiL strutting his stuff as Lord Mountararat in Iolanthe 'Faint heart never won fair lady' is going around my head!
Anyone else with an earworm in residence?!

Sadly, at the moment the thing going round my head is the theme song to Paw Patrol. 'Bout sums it up really.

I have them all the time - on Saturday it was "The Road to Mandalay" driving me potty! Where did that come from? Today it has been the second movement of Haydn's Military Symphony, which is a really lovely tune and not at all military, but it won't go away!

Never had an earworm, I think one would be preferable to my tinnitus though!

OH sings and hums a lot and plays stuff on his ipad, he gives me a new earworm most days, today its The Ride of Valkyries goodness know what he was watching on his ipad confused

'The wheels on the bus' - wish it would get a puncture! grin.

I'm sitting here trying to reconcile The Ride of the Valkyries with a Cadburys cream egg, Tanith. I haven't seen the ad, though!

Even when I wake during the night there is always a tune going round in my head. At the moment it is 'Don't worry be happy'. The other day was DGD's birthday and I couldn't get 'Happy Birthday to you' out of my brain, I drove myself bonkers smile!

Greyduster Tue 07-Feb-17 09:30:47

The thing is, yesterday it was the Haydn all day; this morning, I couldn't recall a note of it!

Not had one for ages but a couple of days ago Frank Ifields' 'I Remember You' started whirring around and I have no idea why. I've never liked the song.

Had a warbling version of 'I dreamed I dwelt in marbled halls' going round for MONTHS - nearly ended up in a straight jacket! OH heard GS singing 'Kenny the Kangaroo' and got stuck with that for a fortnight.

"Wheels on the bus" going around my head at midnight. Not even the correct verses, just made up ones to keep GD amused. She is just starting to speak and one of her first words was "Bus". Waitresses in tearoom couldn't stop laughing the other day, waiting to see what my next made up verse would be. My DS has banned the B word in their house and I'm getting the blame for it all.grin

Constant, day and night earworms. I wake with them I go to sleep with them. Some last for weeks.....some I love and some I hate.

Jaycee5 Tue 07-Feb-17 10:02:14

I was going through a very stressful time some while ago and had difficulty sleeping. Whenever I was about to drop off that awful song 'Tammy' would come into my head and I couldn't stop it. I had no idea where it came from as I couldn't remember hearing it in the recent past and it was not something from my past but it seemed to happen all the time.

I often have them-at the moment it's "All That Jazz."

EEJit Tue 07-Feb-17 10:09:04

I seem to have a jukebox in my head. Different tune, different era every day.

grandMattie Tue 07-Feb-17 10:09:53

Oh LadyGracie I have both. What is most infuriating is that as soon as I lose one, DH starts singing one of his idiotic songs from the 50s/60s usually a couple of bars of a song I don't know either sad and inserts another. I can hardly bear them...

Kim19 Tue 07-Feb-17 10:12:43

I don't mind them as long as they vary. The same one repeatedly is decidedly a pain. When a 'where did that come from' one pops up I rather like it because it takes me back to the time and circumstances of the tune. Nostalgia indeed and usually lovely. What REALLY fascinates me is the workings and mechanisms somewhere inside us that select the particular music or thought. Mmmmmmmm..........

Flaming Peppa Pig!!!
Luckily he seems to be changing allegiance to Bob the Builder.
Can we fix it? Yes we can!

Fits well, doesn't it? Love it! (Not cream eggs though!). Thanks, tanith!

belladonna Tue 07-Feb-17 10:32:47

Let it go !!!!

henetha Tue 07-Feb-17 10:36:20

I always have a whole garden full of earworms. At the moment the dominant one is the theme music from "The Affair" - an American tv series.
