My classroom assistant loved Quo. I still remember having the radio on in my classroom before school and both of us bopping around when Wogan played Quo. The soundtrack of my life is fading away.
I interviewed Rick and Francis Rossi for the university radio station pack in 1977 (they were in a least their second incarnation even then!), At the crucial moment, the microphone wouldn't work, but rather than flounce off, they borrowed a screwdriver from a roadie and fixed it for me. True gents! RIP Rick.
These guys came into the business via gigging in pubs etc., they had to be resourceful unlike some of today's pampered instant stars. I remember watching our sons's band when he broke a string on his bass guitar, within seconds another guitarist from a supporting group had given him his bass.
