These guys came into the business via gigging in pubs etc., they had to be resourceful unlike some of today's pampered instant stars.
I remember watching our sons's band when he broke a string on his bass guitar, within seconds another guitarist from a supporting group had given him his bass.

I interviewed Rick and Francis Rossi for the university radio station pack in 1977 (they were in a least their second incarnation even then!), At the crucial moment, the microphone wouldn't work, but rather than flounce off, they borrowed a screwdriver from a roadie and fixed it for me. True gents! RIP Rick.

Good job 2016 is nearly over. The celebrities that have passed is never ending.

RIP

I saw the Quo too. My ED is named after Francis Rossi. Much to her annoyance. grin

I suppose artists will never die, we can always play their music, watch their films, enjoy their paintings etc.

My thoughts go to the young twins he has left behind, only eight years old. From IVF and 11 years after a triple heart bypass.

Our group play so many of their songs. Rick will be missed by so many, he bought joy to the world (plus severe hearing loss grin)

My classroom assistant loved Quo. I still remember having the radio on in my classroom before school and both of us bopping around when Wogan played Quo. The soundtrack of my life is fading away.

Status Quo seem to have been hanging on in there forever.

RIP Rick

And poor Carrie Fisher so ill. What an awful year for celebs of a certain age

gettingonabit Sat 24-Dec-16 17:33:30

He was very ill though.

RIP Rick. Loved Status Quo, helped with the housework and decorating many a time. They were brilliant live. The best three chords ever.

Sad news I loved Status Quo but never saw them live.

I always meant to go to see them, for the sheer fun of the show but I never did. RIP Rick sad
