Most interesting/boring/f unny job you ever had?

I had a job with a family in Norfolk looking after their three horses and two dogs. I also fed the hundred or so free-range hens. I used to amuse myself writing my name on the ground with the scattered corn so the result was my name written in Rhode Island Red hens.

The most boring job I had was an evening job in a cardboard factory while my kids were small. Hubby came in from work and I went out it lasted 3 months and the pay was rubbish I really only took it because I overheard my mil saying her precious son was being worn out providing for us (we live in the same house at that time).
My friend joined up with me the factory cut and printed boxes for cereals and we had pallets of cut and printed cardboard on a conveyor belt we had to rip out the waste cardboard so all that was left on the pallet was the stacks of flat boxes ready to be assembled and filled somewhere else. Our hands/nails were ruined and if it wasn't for the other girls and the radio on loud we would of gone mad.

The scariest job I had was as a lollypop lady. Some drivers are lunatics, some abusive and to some I was simply invisible.

Most boring - typing address labels to be attached to parcels of free gifts to people who collected cigarette coupons!

As a student, I was delighted to get a summer holiday job, developing X-rays in a local hospital.

On the first day I realised that it meant spending most of the day, on my own in a dark room! What a waste of the lovely summer!

Also it was hard work, in the pre digital days the film sheets were in lead cassettes.

Most boring, was homework from a factory that assembled internal parts for electricity units. It paid quiet well but sitting at the dinning table for hours at a time whilst D played around the floor was so tedious.
Best job I had was as part time kennel maid for a couple that bred and showed prize winning beagles. They had about a dozen at any one time plus any puppies and I was my own boss as they were out at work all day.

I worked in a pub kitchen producing meals in baskets, I didn't enjoy it but being married a couple of years with a young child every extra penny made a difference. I also worked for Buxted, trussing chickens, I worked with a great bunch of women and it was quite enjoyable!
I was an army wife, I used to go into empty army quarters and clean them up to the required standard for the next family, some people are disgusting, but it paid well.
Then a doctor's receptionist, loved that! Finally a maintenance assistant for a Housing Association, I could write a book about that one.

Picking peas by hand as a student. I had to cycle about five miles to get there, it was cold and damp and we were paid by quantity. I only went about twice.

Live in kennelmaid at a show and breeding kennel of boxers and great danes on a small holding in Surrey.Hand milked cows and goats,geese,chickens and a crazy donkey, it was wonderful.

Vampirequeen, I know what you mean, I was a lollipop lady for a few weeks in the 90s, gave it up because my daughter asked me to be her childminder instead. Some of the drivers were just plain sadistic. One day I was in the middle of the road, having first stopped the traffic, the children were filing across, suddenly a car came from behind all those that were stopped, just missed knocking someone over, but was too quick for me to get the number.
I once did a temporary evening job for the last few days before Christmas, packing kitchen cloths similar to Jaycloths into their see through packs. It was SOOOO boring and repetitive, I was glad I didn`t do it full time. It was in an old decrepit looking cotton mill, and to put the icing on the cake, the toilets were DISGUSTING! So bad in fact that we all worked with legs crossed till we went home!

I feel lucky to have had work that I enjoyed for most of my working experience. The one job I did not enjoy was waitressing in a Kenya Coffee House in a department store in Wimbledon. Customers were often rude and arrogant ..it has made me very patient and considerate when in cafes/restaurants!

Most boring? Writing the price on Christmas cards (in pencil) and attaching the envelope on with a paper clip.

I did this for six weeks one summer in the sub-basement of Selfridges. Too far down for radio reception to penetrate. No day light. There were about six of us of as many nationalities, all students, we began to arrive for work later and later, our coffee and lunch breaks got stretched and we left on the dot of 5.00pm.

Then at the beginning of September, the Christmas department opened and I popped out of my rabbit hole and went behind a till, as did we all, on arious shifts. I could see daylight, lots of people round me, customers to serve.I quite enjoyed the last fornight of that summer job.
