Whose effigy?

Would have to go along with Trump and also admit he scares me, I fear for my GC if he is elected. I need notice to think of anyone else but most wouldn't mean much to other people.

When Princess Margaret was told she couldn't marry Peter Townsend my parents made an effigy og the Archbishop of Canterbury and burnt it on the bonfire. I had no idea who he was but my father was working from a photograph and produced a very good likeness.

I feel like rosesarered and cherrytree. I don't feel comfortable with the notion of burning anyone.

Burning effigies goes back into the depths of time. It's nothing to do with witchcraft or burning real people.

Burning an effigy is not burning a person , those who think it witchcraft never attend a Nov 5th bonfire night?

Of course it's not burning a real person, and I never thought about witchcraft particularly ( not in connection with Nov 5th) but find the effigy thing disturbing none the less. Some of us are allowed to feel that if we like, so although I know it's a light hearted thread, I simply answered what I feel.

When you burn an effigy you are wishing death on that person. Not very nice, I think. Take that to an extreme measure and you have "Wicker Man".

Sigh! No one is doing any burning never mind reacting Wicker Man!
