Right, GN'ers!

Every so often we get the school uniform/shoes/pumps/daps/onesies crap stuff coming up, usually during school holidays, so lets make it interesting! wink

Shall we have a competition for the most original thread from a troll newbie, with a prize of a virtual cupcake for the winner?

Perhaps some topics should not be considered for entry, as they have been done to death and I'm sure we are all heartily sick of them, but it might be interesting to see what "they" might come up with.

I think that school uniform, footwear and certain types of casual attire should be eliminated from this competition, but other suggestions are of course welcomed! grin

Like most forums same old same old! Moans and groans should also be eliminated or exterminated grin

Jane10 Sat 15-Oct-16 18:28:41

Oh no. We need to have somewhere to moan and groan about. Not sure I'd want to encourage. trolls unexpected newbies.

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 18:48:14

Do we have to re-join with a new troll name or can we start an OP under our present names?

Because if it is really daft, it will be there for ever with my name attached to it and I would hate anyone to think I was dafter than ever daft

grin

I wonder if you want to welcome any newbies, it's hard to break into any of the threads on here, I thought it would be a place to exchange ideas, express opinions. The same names appear over and over, a bit of an insular group. It would be nice to exchange views with others, I suppose I'd better get back to talking to myself! As I probably am now!

Ana Sat 15-Oct-16 18:54:01

It isn't instant, Irma, give it a bit of time...smile

Irma In this thread Phoenix is referring to the latest in a long history of posts about the same 11 year-old and the cost of the school uniform that his granny says she is buying for him - different usernames, but the same stuff mentioned in the post, even the same spelling mistakes and obsession with cheap plimsolls. He is always 11, never seems to get any older.

There is an understandable feeling that there is no 11-year-old, no school uniform and no granny.

That is nothing to do with being unwelcoming to newbies - your posts are welcome anywhere, but there are hundreds of members posting, thousands of members altogether, some of whom only post occasionally.

There isn't a label "NEWBY" that lights up after your username to draw attention to you, your post stands the same chance as anyone else's of getting an answer. Sometimes people continue with exchanges that are already started, sometimes no-one is looking at that thread so no-one replies.

It isn't that you are being deliberately ignored. We all have posted and found a deafening silence, even for our most beautifully phrased words of wisdom hmm - you are not alone! Don't be disheartened, just keep on typing!

jollyg Sat 15-Oct-16 19:07:18

All Welcomed........... as long as they are approved by the cogniscenti.

Ana Sat 15-Oct-16 19:12:31

Who are they? confused

rosesarered Sat 15-Oct-16 19:14:41

Ah, you have to be in the know Ana grin

aggie Sat 15-Oct-16 19:14:46

Jolly G keep posting , I find lots of different names , but some names recur as some posters have more time than others . some of us are confined to the house due to lack of mobility and relieve the loneliness and boredom on here

Ana Sat 15-Oct-16 19:17:05

jollyg does keep posting, aggie. Some of his/her posts are memorable.

aggie Sat 15-Oct-16 19:21:18

oops blush

aggie Sat 15-Oct-16 19:22:03

Maybe JG is bored too then smile

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 20:37:09

Irma don't get disheartened - as a thread killer you will have competition in me!
And sometimes I think 'Are my posts invisible?'
And sometimes I get a response (not always welcome).

Irma Sat 15-Oct-16 20:50:13

I didn't joint to cause disharmony, but to bounce ideas and opinions off others, definitely not to annoy people. I'm a friendly but lonely person and I think I may be better off staying that way smile

Judthepud2 Sat 15-Oct-16 20:50:30

Irma 2 weeks ago I checked the 'I'm on' section and found 4 posts that stopped with me. It probably just means that the thread has come to its natural conclusion. People do read your posts, even if they don't respond. I am always surprised if someone does respond directly to me grin

Suggest you try 'Soop's kitchen' if you want to get a response. soop always responds directly to everyone, bless her, as do some of the other regular Kitcheners.

Keep posting. It is good to hear everyone's thoughts.

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 20:53:35

Only 4 Jud?
You're a novice grin

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 20:54:31

although I was very excited the other day when I managed to get the 1001th post on TWO threads that were supposed to stop at 1000!
Made my week.

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 20:54:46

sorry, 1001st

Ana Sat 15-Oct-16 20:58:14

That's true, most of us have killed several threads stone dead in our time.

Irma, you will get to know which threads are more harmonious than contentious and vice versa. Don't give up! smile

Ana Sat 15-Oct-16 21:00:01

Jalima you didn't, because the system won't accept any posts after 1000! You must have a faulty post-counter!

petra Sat 15-Oct-16 21:22:05

Irma we are all eyes now. Give us an idea or opinion that we can bounce around.

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 21:25:53

Oh, it did say 1001, and I was very surprised!

Jalima Sat 15-Oct-16 21:29:38
