Transgender parent

I sat down with my cup of jasmine tea this afternoon switched on the tv and there in front of me was a problem I d never really considered and I don't know how I would deal with ( not that I ll have to) So thought it worth a discussion The scene, a husband and wife separated with a three year old boy Since separation the husband had become transgender wearing a well fitting dress, make up and a nice hairstyle he/ she actually looked good as a woman ...... however one of the problems,( there were plenty) was what the three year old should call his Daddy when he saw him, as he had on one occasion called him Mummy and the Mum naturally was very upset by that.

What a dilemma I just thought it could be interesting to discuss

Crikey yes, I can see that would be a dilemma. Something like "daddy Mary" might work at home but when he starts nursery would cause a lot of problems.
I think I'd have to find a pet name for daddy that the child agreed with that wasn't gender specifichmm

We know a trans guy in the village who dressed as a woman at home for many years before coming out and undergoing the full surgical transition. The children were 12, 15 and 19 when this occurred and she has insisted on being called Mummy and her wife has remained as Mum. The three grandchildren call them each Granny followed by their name. The whole situation has caused a lot of problems for the kids, including getting beaten up and bullied at school. Unfortunately, her transition hasn't been as successful as some and she retains some very male characteristics-heavy set neck, muscled arms, receding hairline and quite a masculine face despite having had face refining surgery.

I watched a bit of it and was appalled at the way the father of the child paraded himself on the show! Ive no problem with his sexuality but to go about broadcasting it the way he did was so wrong. And to get the child to call him mummy was so wrong! As Ninthenanna suggested a pet name would be a good idea so as not to confuse the child any further.
