Has anyone tried the newly refurbished John Lewis coffee shop, in Reading? At the moment it is a shambles. All the cakes, scones etc, are open to coughs, sneezes and childrens sticky fingers. It is self service for drinks and cake, hot meals are still served, but haphazardly. Having to wait for our car to be serviced, we thought we would treat ourselves to breakfast. Bad mistake. There were not enough staff serving, but lots standing around with clip boards, taking copious notes. We had to wait for bread to be brought from elsewhere, to toast, meanwhile our bacon, sausage and eggs were drying up nicely on a hot plate. The Earl Grey tea was horrible, being 'The Earl', no taste of bergamot whatsoever. It was £16.30 for a very bad experience this morning. I have emailed them, and await a response. Reading meet up in a few days, beware! ?
Soops kitchen, a place of reflection, refuge and at times revelry.
What made you fall in love with your OH?

but I haven't been in there since they took over the premises. Used to quite like it when it was a different coffee shop though.
