Hello All, I just wanted to warn everyone that if they are thinking of ordering a book online I woiuld strongly advise not to touch a company called WORDERY. I ordered a book from then on 3rd September, giving plenty of time for it to arrive as it was for a Birthday present. To cut a long story short there is no way you can telephone these people, only contact is by e mail or through Amazon. The responses I have from them are appalling and beyond belief, for example telling me there are plenty of other sellers on Amazon and if i wanted a faster delivery I should have gone elsewhere!, then they tell me they will not give a refund until I return the item, the whole point of me contacting them was because I never have received it!I have had to contact amazon who agree that I should have received item by now, they say I have done the right thing in contacting the seller first, but they have now filed a case against the seller on my behalf, will let you know how this pans out, thank goodness it was only a book mand not something which cost alot more money angry

When you contact Amazon Ilrina things start to happen! Leave some bad feedback on the seller's page too, for others to read.

Ilrina Tue 13-Sept-16 23:57:26

Oh I have done Elegran! told it like it is smile

I ha e successful bought several books from Wordery. I am not sure anger will resolve you issue; Amazon have a tried and tested system for redress which generally works in favour of the buyer in my experience.

glammanana Wed 14-Sept-16 08:48:28

This can happen with anything bought on line really but mostly we are covered by replacement or refund,it does not excuse bad customer service though and you should have been spoken to more politely.

Anya Wed 14-Sept-16 08:51:48

That's unbelievably bad customer service to tell you there are 'plenty of other sellers on Amazon'. A genuine apology and understanding would have gone a long way I'm sure.

Amazon will sort this out, and as you have left an unfavourable review other buyers will beware. It's not just a case of something going wrong, it's how a company deals with it that is important.

jollyg Wed 14-Sept-16 08:56:18

A satisfied WORDERY customer here, goods came sooner than expected!

Anya Wed 14-Sept-16 09:04:44

I hate it when people say 'I've never had any problems'

The worth of a firm is when you do have an issue and how well they sort it for you.

No company gets it right 100% but the good ones will try hard to sort your issues out as they value their customer base and their good name. Those who make comments like above deserve any bad publicity they might get.

Ilrina Wed 14-Sept-16 10:01:11

Gracegran, had you read my post properly you would have seen that indeed Amazon are dealing with it on my behalf, I do know the correct way to deal with things, doesn't stop me being angry though, and glammanana, I have not been spoken to at all, there seems no way to speak to these people, everything has been via e mail. With hindsight I looked at some reviews, should have done so in the first place, many people have had the same sort of service that i have experienced. There are strict distance selling regulations, and this firm clearly does not adhere to them

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 10:09:23

"Hate" is such a strong word Anya. What would you suggest the person who wants to balance the thread with their perfectly happy experiences says?

I agree that problems arise and it is how they sort it out that tells you much about a firm and, as an ex Market Place Book Seller on Amazon I can happily agree that you cannot get it 100% right and good customer service is about how you deal with that. This company does deserve to be held to account for this one incidence of poor customer service but if you are going to go public as the OP has done it is quite reasonable for others to tell of their experience.

Wordery is massive and this keeps the price down. You are just as responsible on-line as you are off to find the business that suits your need. If you look you will see they currently have a 97% positive feedback over 3,637,733 sales in the last year. I would not expect the average book buyer to understand that this is a company that processes books rather like widgets but the information regarding their business model is there for all to see.

There are sellers with 100% positive feedback and if service is more important to you than price (as with a birthday present) it may be worth paying a little extra and going to one of them. You will probably find they are more specialist and work extremely hard on their service as that is their USP. For a company like Wordery, although the need to provide the service Amazon demands their USP is price, price and price - so that is what you get.

Would you prefer, "I rather dislike" gracesgran? hmm

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 10:28:06

We shouldn't hang on the range of possible meanings of a word a poster uses, unless you are trying to start an argument. I'm sure we all know what Anya mean't by "hate" in this instance. Anya is right, you will never know how good a supplier is until something goes wrong, a good supplier will rectify the problem without fuss.

Anya Wed 14-Sept-16 14:42:28

Yes, it's quite a mild phrase I'd have thought, used like that. Now had it been directed at someone in particular that would be a different matter.

Swanny Wed 14-Sept-16 14:52:47

I had a complaint against a seller through Amazon about an item that was overpriced. I felt it was not clear in the product description that the price was for 1 item rather than 5, which was comparable to the shop price. (Item had sold out in local shops.) Several emails and phone calls to the seller and to Amazon only resulted in Amazon telling me they did NOT get involved in pricing disagreements angry

Amazon was brilliant on other occasions when something did not arrive by its stated time or I ordered something in error.

Swanny Wed 14-Sept-16 14:56:03

Oops! Grammar error there! Amazon plural 'they' in one line and singular 'was' in the next. Sorry blush

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 15:03:39

Quite right Anya, should have been taken in context.

Ilrina Wed 14-Sept-16 15:59:50

Well I think I am sorted. I checked on Amazon to see the status of my claim, and was delighted to see that i had the option of having an Amazon gift token to the value of the refund I am due from the seller. I use Amazon on a regular basis so this seemed like a good and easy solution for me. Amazon can now do whatever they need to regarding the seller. I want no more to do with them.
I just want to point out that it is not the fact that things went wrong which has annoyed me, it is the dreadful attitude of the seller. I cannot understand why people would act in this way, it isn't good business practice.
I can recall when I worked for an antiquarian book dealer some years ago I made a stupid error and sent completely the wrong Item.Unfortunately it happened to be to America, so it would have been more trouble to ask for it to be returned. I simply mailed the buyer, told them that I had been responsible for the whole transaction, that I had no excuse to offer other than that I had made a careless mistake. Apologized, told them to keep the one they had with our compliments, and that the correct order was now on the way to them.I had a lovely mail in return, and what's more that buyer used us again, and recommended us to friends.Anyone can make a mistake, the answer is to admit it, put it right and move on

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 16:06:29

Good news, reassuring to know that Amazon will sort things. I had a similar result with eBay, the supplier would not respond to my request for a refund on a faulty item, after about 10 days, eBay contacted me to see if the problem was resolved. I said no, eBay said leave it with them, 2 days later I received a full refund inc. postage direct from eBay, and said do not return the item. (it was a dvd that would not play in the UK region)

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 18:36:39

I see you have joined the ranks of the posting police wobblybits.

I did not comment on Anya hating anyone because she didn't say that. What she said was almost worse; that she hated people putting a contrary view. You then decided to jump in with a little more policing. I think you both better gird your loins as people are likely to put different and opposing points on any forum.

Wobblybits Wed 14-Sept-16 18:49:09

Gracesgran, yes. if you mean supporting a poster that is being criticised for no good reason, most of understood what she meant, sounds like you are just looking to start an argument. and it won't be with me.

Gracesgran Wed 14-Sept-16 19:38:36

So, you think that, when someone complains about a firm and then a couple of other people comment on their own experience being good with the same company it is reasonable on an open forum for another member to want to sensor such balancing comments, so much so that they declare they 'hate' them, an argument is being caused by one of the people who put their own point of view forward?

Most people would want to defend free speech Wobblybits but it takes all sorts and your logic is fascinating. Oh … I have just remembered who you actually are. This silliness now makes a lot of sense.

Elegran Wed 14-Sept-16 19:41:46

.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 14-Sept-16 19:56:33

You are very fond of Wordery, aren't you gracesgran? sad

Ilrina Wed 14-Sept-16 19:57:04

Good heavens what alot of bitchiness I see on here

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 14-Sept-16 19:57:07

I, on the other hand, have never heard of 'em.
