Most people who know me, know this already BUT......I HATE going on holiday. Oh how I wish I was different. There is one place I do enjoy going, but only because I have been there many times and always with close family so as well as it being a lovely village in Devon, all my nearest and dearest are usually there too and so I have good memories and because there are so many of us, we laugh all the time.
Holidays however, really give me the horrors. I wish I looked forward to it all as some people do, counting the days, packing and getting all excited, dreaming of the sea,the sun, the beach. People get all jealous and say 'I wish I was going , put me in your suitcase etc etc' but I just think 'Thank goodness it isn't me'.
I'm not much of a sun worshipper for a start, it makes me feel ill actually, I love my own bed and my own surroundings. I've worked my whole life to make my own home nice to be in and it's the best place in the world for me. I don't enjoy travel. I get sick in a car, on a plane, on a boat, and I've tried everything to prevent it but nothing has worked. I dislike going abroad because of the language barriers, the currency, the food and just about everything else. I dislike being in England because there are very few places you can go, where you can't get back home within hours, so I'd rather go for the day and come home to my own bed. I love looking at other countries on TV, and other places in the UK too, but they are there, I've looked at them, and I can then switch over and watch something else. The money you spend on holiday you could buy the best and most expensive food for yourself, sit in your garden, buy yourself a few treats and still not have to travel anywhere and spend hundreds of pounds.
I sound terrible, but it's true, going on holiday is something I dread and luckily this year I went for a long weekend with the family to our favourite village in Devon, and other half is going to Canada to visit his brother in October and I'm not going. BLISS.
