I agree about the caravan - we had one when the children were little and those were the holidays that I always enjoyed the most. No real packing/unpacking - just stick everything in the van and away you go. And you could turn round and go home whenever you fancied or if the weather was rubbish.
We virtually never had holidays where you were waited on - only self-catering. So....a bit like being at home but without your familiar bits around you - e.g. in the kitchen. or sometimes the equipment in the self-catering place was so far superior to ours that we looked askance at our own home when we got back!
We would not now stay in a hotel or a B&B (where you are adrift all day) as we both have health problems and my OH does not eat normally nor function normally for a large chunk of the day - we need our own space.
What household chore have you got completely wrong?
