Can I beg a minute of your time to give me your thoughts on telephone canvassing by political parties?
With less than a week to go until polling day and shocking (wind, rain, sleet, snow and intermittent warm sunshine) weather to contend with I am having my arm twisted to abandon door to door canvassing and instead make phone calls.
I have always refused to do this on the grounds that it is counterproductive, annoying more people than it pleases.
What are your thoughts? Is political telephone canvassing annoying, intrusive and off-putting or is it a useful way to contact the voters, listen to their opinions and encourage them to vote?
