Another Blue Badge SCAM

Just heard on the radio that there is yet another Blue Badge scam if you go online and use a search engine. It's similar in principle to previous scams, but they're better at fooling folk.

A site pops up that looks as though it's the official website, but it isn't. They charge £49 for the privilege of sorting out your Blue Badge application PLUS whatever the normal charge is.

Apparently, because it looks so official, many people have been caught out.

When I renewed DH's blue badge last year I found it quite a performance. The scammers are no doubt conning people into believing they can do it all for you.

Why was it a performance? All that should be needed is proof of mobA or a Drs certificate, a up to date photo and the fee

Just been approached by two people who have parked in our road, which is residents parking only, or 2 hours parking otherwise. They wanted to ask that if they displayed their blue badge would it mean they could park there longer.

I said, I didn't know but it was half a mile walk into town up a steep hill and they might be better parking in town, rather than walking, if one of they was disabled.

No problems, they said, we can manage that walk hmm

I wish I could manage half an hour up a steep hill!

There is a similar scam with the EHIC - sites charging you for it when you can do it free on the .gov website. Paying confers no advantage as you have to give them the same details as you would be if you were doing it for free.
