I am quite/very cynical when I read newspapers. Yesterday I was interested to read that Olivia Coleman had been chosen to play the next Bond. There were some comments from her and a picture of her in the classic Bond pose with gun.

I believed it completely, probably because I am a fan of hers, and announced it at Food Bank.

Today I read that it was an April Fool! That's really funny! I shall tell everyone I know and they will find it hilarious. I don't mind being made a fool of.

But actually I think the time has come for a female Bond!

I agree Pat, it is time for a female Bond and Olivia Coleman is an excellent actor.

I don't agree that the time has come for a female Bond. Bond isn't female, and a woman wouldn't behave as he does. I just don't think it would work on any level.

I don`t think a female Bond would work either although I love Olivia Coleman . Bond was written as a male character and in any case there are loads of strong parts for female leads .

I'm not sure a female Bond jumping into bed with all those sexy bond girls would work, or am I being old fashioned ?
I do hope your not thinking of replacing those sexy girls with sexy men, of course not, that would be silly.

No the point of Bond is that he is male- the interesting parts could go to women villains- don't see why the villain always has to be male. I've always said that being a Bond girl (the ones who get bedded and then killed) is the kiss of death for an actress - you never see them again.

Ha, ha, I saw that too pensionpat and was thoroughly taken in till I read your thread. Think Olivia Coleman is a brilliant actress and haven't seen a Bond film since Dr No in the sixties so was quite up for the idea.

Olivia Coleman? A permanently crying Bond? hmm

merlotgran Sat 02-Apr-16 18:55:47

Good joke though

Bond doesn't even have a feminine side!

I don't know why the chat in the media is all about 'it's time for a female/ black/ gay etc Bond' why would it be? the character of Bond is from books, would we be saying it's time for a male Emma (Austen) or a female Morse?

Marmark1 Sun 03-Apr-16 09:25:23

Here we go,I knew straight away that was a April fool joke.Bond is male. And for me there's only one bond Sean Connery.Sex on legs.

Olivia Colman,as good an actress as she may be,should not have been in that role in The Night Manager, that was purely because they had to have a strong female in it somewhere,PC twits.

Don't watch Bond films, but the character is male, do we want Olivia Twist, Little Neil, Bernie Jones's Diary?

Oldgreymare Sun 03-Apr-16 10:15:57
