Your oddest 'compliment'?

I was once told that I walked like a well-bred carthorse. I have never been quite sure what to make of that but was amused by the "well-bred".

Bags, the mind boggles!

I was once told that I as an "enigma". I was only 15 at the time and had to go home and look it up in the dictionary. I was pleasantly surprised !!!

A young woman I worked with complimented me on the dress I was wearing and asked me where I bought it.

"Anne Brookes" I said.

"It really suits you", she replied, adding "do they do fashionable things?"

It still makes me laugh.

A great aunt told me that l looked just like my mum did at the same age.........just not so pretty!

I think that's what's termed a " backhanded compliment"! Like the stuck up colleague who said to me " they're lovely earrings you've got on.- I can't wear cheap jewellery myself".

Someone I'd just met said "Oh aren't you lovely and tall? Means you can carry the weight well". If she'd stopped after the first four words I would have been very pleased!

My ex , then my fiance, once said 'In the dark you're not bad'!

My son calls me a little ginger nutter ! I have never understood why , I am the most placid person ever .

A friend said:

"I hate pierced ears but if I ever had my ears pierced, which I wouldn't I'd wear ear rings like yours."

"Your hair looks nice for a change."

My auntie said:

"You're Bonnie but your mother was beautiful."

Probably not an odd complimented and not even meant to be one but three or four years ago a neighbours divorced daughter asked us if we would be guardians to her two children in the event of anything happening to her.
We said yes and I still consider it the ultimate compliment.

A stranger once told me I had child bearing hips ?

DH told me being married to me was an 'adventure'!

A boyfriend once told me that I was the smallest girl he had ever been out with, but the best looking. I was annoyed, and when later I told my Mother she laughed.

My Dad always said I had legs like a robin !

Mine was similar to Eloethan when a friend at a dinner told me I looked nice, the dress I was wearing flattered me.

Someone once told me I was a 'formidable woman'. I always wondered if that was meant as a compliment.

Yes I was told I was the image of my Mother , but she was a good looking woman ! I burst out laughing , friend was offended and walked off !

A lovely Irish man once asked me when I was out with DH 'How was heaven when you left it?' I said to DH 'oh he thinks I look like an angel' and DH replied 'no, he thinks you look like you've just been exhumed'.

BBbevan, my dad used to say I had football's legs.

My DH can always put the kibosh on a compliment, bless him. I was so flattered just a few years ago when a young Italian made that appreciative clicking noise as he walked past. I mentioned it to my beloved and he said it was probably his shoes squeaking.

My really good friend who takes me out every week (so I am very fond of her) told me a few weeks ago that she was having a pub meal with her H when a man walked up to their table and said " I would like to say you are the most beautiful woman in S...."
My immediate reaction was to say "was he drunk"? and she said " that is what B said " well actually I think it was "he must be drunk"
That was really unkind of us both.
