... to have spent the day with my DM celebrating her 89th birthday flowers

A small family lunch gathering represented 4 generations - we enjoyed good food, wine and lots of fun.

I don't know how my DM will be this time next year - her dementia may have gotten the better of her - but at least we will have wonderful memories to look back on smile ❤️

We did a little surprise party for mother in law's 80th birthday. One of her nieces suggested it and I wasn't sure, because she didn't like surprises and was a bit odd about her family. In actual fact she was thrilled! She saw her sister for the first time in quite a few years and both her nieces and their husbands and a good time was had by all smile

So pleased it went so well. My mother !ived to enjoy her 100th but she had all "her marbles " DH is 80 next month and it will mean nothing to him so rejoice in your Mother's special day.

A lovely post joggingirl made me feel happy and sad (at the same time) thinking about all the lovely 5 generation family get togethers we had last year before my grandma died in September, aged 99. Enjoy these wonderful memories. smile

jg, I've just seen this. What a lovely post, and an even lovelier photograph smile. I'm so glad you had such a special day with your beloved mum, and daughter, and diva, who is certainly a chip off the old block. We're just a 3G family, so I'm very impressed. A memory to treasure. flowers
