Yes. I used to make it. I was always amazed at how much you get from just a relatively small amount of oranges.

I used to make a lot but I haven't since I was widowed four years ago. It is obvious now who was eating it all . . .

I've never made marmalade - i only like the lemon one. I've only made jam once, but have a freezer stuffed with strawberries ready to have another go - one day!

STrawberry jam is a pig to set. Grey. Use powdered pectin if you can find it, I don't like using bottled pectin, it tastes strange and sort of claggy. Otherwise, mix the strawberries with gooseberries or redcurrants for a good set.

Lemon marmalade is easy to make - and easy to get fresh fruit the year round. Try making it. One thing though, just a PINCH of bicrab to balalnce the acid.

I used to use Ma-Made (?) but now just but the cheap marmalade . It's fine , but occasionally , at a coffee morning or such like I'll buy the homemade more expensive kind .
I used to love watching my Mum doing all that , mincing , de-seeding , sterilising jars etc .
I must be a people watcher , I liked watching her iron . Now I like to watch a man shaving . Anyone else like watching ?

No! I hate it! Always think I could do it better myself. (not shaving though)

None any more as we use so little of it - a jar of marmalade lasts me a couple of months - more at the moment as I am not buying bread.

I don't make marmalade but do make lemon curd and Asian chilli jam ( fabulous with cheese).

I used to M & S apricot and amaretto jam but they've stopped making it so I buy their mandarin marmalade instead.

I made marmalade ONCE.. its laxative 'qualities' are legendary. 40 years on it is still talked about for rendering its consumers housebound for quite some time... NEVER again!

PS Should have added that I am full of admiration for all those who are successful marmalade-makers. I do enjoy marmalade that is homemade by OTHER people

I make jam and chutney, but the thought of chopping up all that peel and putting the pips into a little bag fills me with horror.

Just as well that DH likes Lidl's best!

downtoearth I would love to share the details of my incredible potion marmalade, but after 40 years I'm afraid I can no longer remember what I did wrong! (The marmalade was just one in a long line of culinary mishaps... )

None! but I do eat tons of the stuff, couldn't live without it.

I made a batch of marmalade, using Mamade, just before my knee op. Used to always have it for breakfast on toast, but since op, my tastes have changed
. (This batch will last a long time.) Now I have cereal or porridge. Have gone off sweets as well.
