'Safe Custody Hold' at Natwest

2 months ago, I noticed an item on my bank statement 'safe custody hold' and a charge of £25. Further investigation has led to my discovery that I've been charged this for the last 7 years. I have bank statements online and can trace them back for this time.

With all the bank closures there is no longer a bank in my town (20.000 population). I decided to ring the customer service centre and did so a number of times with their promise to contact my nearest branch to ensure that they contacted me. This never happened so now 2 letters later and still no contact. Result - customer service gone down the drain!!

Apparently the bank started charging for this a while back although previously it had been a free service. No doubt I was notified in a leaflet amongst a lot of other small print!!

Has anyone else experienced this?

It is probably your will or some other such document. They used to charge us £8 but when it went up we stopped and took them back.

I find in general when I get bad service it helps if I post it on that company's Facebook and Tweet them, it usually gets a reaction. Even better if you take the name of the person you are speaking to and tell them you are going to do it. Worked a treat for us a couple of weeks ago.

NONNIE your suggestion paid off. My grateful thanks to you. I rang the customer services centre this morning and had a call from my bank a few hours later. All will be resolved when we collect the deposit next week.
