I'm not known for my artistic ability, but when I have a pen in my hand I find myself doodling umbrellas, cubes, houses.

What do you doodle ?

Flowers, usually. And faces.

Yachts in full sail. Goodness knows why as I'm no sailor and don't even live near the sea.

Houses and stars mostly.

A thing that looks like a chimney sweep's brush, houses and flowers.

Triangles and oblongy shapes with a pointed roof!
Weird.

Leaves and trees. Acanthus leaves. Greek key patterns.

Anyone a psychiatrist? grin

Usually repetitive patterns, usually abstract but sometimes trees or leaves. The abstract ones usually become increasingly complex and detailed the longer I'm doodling, often with shading to give a 3 dimensional appearance hmm

Thorn shapes sprouting off a stem going round the paper. I worry what that means as well. hmm

Circles, squares or oblongs, then fill them in with patterns. I have to make sure the lines of the squares etc join up, if they don't I make it larger and neater hmm However, I am not generally known for my tidiness!
I used to doodle a lot but don't seem to have a pen or pencil in my hand so much these days!

I do faces and flowers too. I'm a compulsive doodler

I hadn't really thought about this much before but I think mine is daisy heads and joined up small circles that look like a honey combe , then I fill odd ones in.

As Janerowena said , interested to hear a psychiatrists take.

Usually it's just spirals, sometimes they are square spirals? They often end up looking like mazes. I don't know why.

I like to doodle on faces in a newspaper or magazine, I reshape eyebrows, add lush long lashes, beauty spots and shade in lips to give the illusion of glossy lips. Male or female they get the same treatment and they all look beautiful afterwards grin on a blank piece of paper, I do flowers with leaves on the stem, or eyes.

Geometric shapes with curved patterns within, or sometimes filling in the corners of the page in a curve.
I wonder what a 'shrink' would make of all these!

I tend to doodle an envelope with the flap open, it`s something I started doing many years ago, in my teens, you have to draw it in one movement without removing the pen from the paper. Somehow it`s stuck with me all these years.

Cubes stacking up, plants with curly stems and tendrils, multi-petalled flower heads, curly whirly patterns.....
