......with a pair of totally inappropriate cerise pink suede ballet flats. They're gorgeous! I only have one or two outfits that they would go with and they're quite impractical and a bit pricey. Managed to walk away but still keep thinking about them. What to do?!? I'm coveting them! Should nannas wear cerise pink suede??

Lona Wed 24-Jun-15 19:08:15

Yes!!!! Yes!!!!! Yes!!!!!

loopylou Wed 24-Jun-15 19:09:06

Oh go for it! grin
If they make you feel good why the heck not wear cerise pink footwear, I have a pair of wedge pumps the same colour and they cheer me up and make me smile. They actually go with loads of colours (grey, black, white, navy, green - think of bright pink flowers!)

annodomini Wed 24-Jun-15 19:11:03

Why not? What does it have to do with being a gran? Get them...wear them.

merlotgran Wed 24-Jun-15 19:11:28

You lucky thing. I can't wear ballet flats because of a bally fallen arch!

They'll be fab....'ave 'em grin

thatbags Wed 24-Jun-15 19:11:39

Yes! Get them! I once bought a mad colourfully sequinned pair of ballet flats that 'went' with nothing. Still wore them. The DDs remember them with affection.

Yes!

They sound lovely, buy them before they're gone. Nannas can definately wear cerise pink suede. smile

I think any "guilt" that you may feel is of nothing compared with either:
A) The pleasure you will get in three stages, namely:

1) The thrill of actually buying them
2) The thrill again of going to the wardrobe/cupboard/ bedroom floor to have just one more look at them.
3) Wearing them

Then of course you have to factor in:

How you might feel if you decide to buy them, but horror of horrors they aren't there any more!

You do go to look again, decide to buy them but discover they no longer have you size (a word of caution here, DO NOT be tempted into buying a size too small in the mistaken belief that they will stretch enough to be comfortable)

Oh Katek just buy them! I had a similar quandary years ago with a pair of high heeled strappy sandal type things, in emerald green snake skin with gold piping and gold leather lining. I think I wore them all of three times, but boy did I get some pleasure in getting them out of the wardrobe and just looking at them!

Go for them! I've just bought some bright pink high heels with Swaroski crystals to wear to a wedding. Not really the sort of thing I usually wear, but I shall enjoy every minute of them!

Hope you enjoy yours! x

whitewave Wed 24-Jun-15 19:51:58

I bet you find all sorts of outfits they will go with. I love bright colours and wear them as often as possible. Colour is life enhancing.

ffinnochio Wed 24-Jun-15 19:58:51

I agree with everyone else - buy them, wear them and enjoy them.smile

annsixty Wed 24-Jun-15 20:07:03

Think of all the outfits you can justify buying just to get "the wear out of them".

downtoearth Wed 24-Jun-15 20:10:04

yes get them ....have cerise pink leather flats....go with nothing..

had to check to make sure it didn't mention black plimsoles, school shoes, ugg boots or shoe zone..grin

annsixty Wed 24-Jun-15 20:10:44

And I am the most sensible person on the earth, I just like encouraging people to do unsensible things. I never did and boy do I regret it.

janeainsworth Wed 24-Jun-15 20:15:38

I want some!!!
It's best if things don't go together. The matchy-matchy look is so last-century wink

I have a pair of cerise suede flats with bow. Love love love them. They go with everything. Picked up a nice big lawn type fabric scarf in the same colour to coordinate the shoes.
Wear them with pride and love !!

Judthepud2 Wed 24-Jun-15 20:53:40

Katek Wed 24-Jun-15 21:12:00

I am convinced!! Back in town on Friday and then the shoes will be mine, all mine!! Have realised that I already have a scarf that will match them perfectly. Perhaps might need a couple of tops......hmm....

NannyGoat12345 Wed 24-Jun-15 21:22:42

KateK - get 'em, they are calling your name, life is too short not to do without them.

Ceesnan Wed 24-Jun-15 21:30:43

Katek I agonised for ages as to whether to buy a pair of bright red patent Doc Martins. I finally gave in and bought them and have never once regretted it. Buy them and enjoy!

Grannyknot Wed 24-Jun-15 21:37:02

kate I have a pair of silver Converse smile

Slightly off topic, or maybe not smile am I the only one who one fine day looks at a "had to have it" purchase that I've been happily wearing and think "What the hell were you thinking?" and then never wear it again. Or, I take something off the rack only to realise in the fitting room, that my mind's eye saw the 23 year old me in it...sad grin
