Waterproof coat

How waterproof do you need it to be. My GDs have the M&S ones and they are so padded that they don't let showers through. The outer cloth seems shower proof. x

I suppose this set would be a bit big. It does sem to be mostly snowsuits for that age.

Have you looked at supermarket ranges for children's clothes?
I bought DGS a waterproof a couple of weeks ago in Sainsburys, probably similar ones are available in other stores.

I did wonder about the M and D ones,J52. They're quite nice and not too pricey. And if they're reasonably waterproof that should be fine.
Or might be worth a look in Sainsburys etc. Trouble is there aren't many near where I live that are large enough to sell clothes.

At nine months I'm wondering why she'd need to be out in the rain.
Is she walking already?

Have bought coats for GC from a company called Trekwear....they do out door type stuff that's also good for school. Have used them several times even having to return stuff (wrong size) and had excellent service.

OOOer....9 months....thought she was 9......a basic splash suit over warm clothes is surely enough....shes hardly going to be out walking much.

No she's not walking but it's useful when I take her somewhere like Rhythm Time and I have to carry her across a big car park in the rain. It's not worth hauling the pram out of the car. Prams seem to weigh a ton these days.
We're not walking the Nile or anything (smile)

My DGDs had M&S pvc waterproofs with a fleecy lining. They are totally waterproof and fairly warm if you weren't going out all day in the freezing cold.

I just had a quick look and they do a shorter version - theirs were longer, to the knee.

What about a waterproof cape or poncho for short trips?

A cape wouldn't be warm but you could just pop it on top of her normal coat.

They are not supposed to wear coats in the car so putting on a coat and then a poncho would be a bit of a faff! DD1 bought lots of clothes from Saonsburys for DGD1 and they are now being worn by DGD4! You can do click and collect if your store doesn't sell clothes.

I have just replaced a waterproof jacket the zip went on the other, tried M & S , and priced at £69, so decided to search online at Matalan ,and Millett's went to millets as they have a sale on most in sale are 50% off price, but Matalan also prices cheaper than M & S and Debenhams etc.

Not thought of Matalan- their stuff is often quite nice.
Failing that I might go back to that little M and S padded one that J52 mentioned- it was quite nice and not too expensive.

At this rate it will be too warm for a coat by the time I've made my mind up.

They have a few raincoats in Matalan for littleones april I saw them last week when in Liverpool and all pretty patterns as well,at this time of year you don't need to spending loads as there is no chance it will fit her next year but you can get away with buying a bigger sized mac and rolling up the sleeves so it fits next year.Mine used to like the rain and it was a job to get them dressed in wet gear at all when they where little,but as my OH always said "whats a bit of water ?they won't shrink" lol.
