I'm in pre-Christmas heaven

Sounds like a wonderful morning VQ.

I am planning to put the basic icing on the cake later today and then all 6 GC will decorate it tomorrow at my DD's house. I will have to remember not to eat any of the icing as, knowing my dear GC, it will be copiously laced with snot and other unmentionables.

That sounds terrific VQ I am totally jealous, wish I could do the same.

Mishap! Reminds me of the year when young DD was helping to make the Christmas puddings and tore up a brown paper bag and added it to the mixture when my back was turned.......

I remember my DD aged about 3, busily kneading currant scone dough, cutting it into circles and popping it in the oven. She then looked at her hand and said "Oh look, my wart has gone!" Her wart was under treatment and was black - a currant lookalike! We do not know which member of the family had the privilege of eating it.

My kitchen tops are now covered with wonkily decorated buns and peppermint creams of varying sizes (def not going to fit into the little sweet cases I bought lol).

The children are now decorating 2 litre icecream containers to put them in as the little boxes I had planned wouldn't hold more than two lol.

My DGD loves baking with me even now that she is 14. Her mum doesn't like the mess, but she can make as much mess in my kitchen as she likes

Could someone tell me why on earth I invited a friend to come for supper tonight? I know I'll enjoy it once she's here, but I was planning to do minimum cooking today!

Probably seemed like a good idea at the time phoenix, bit like me saying to my friend that I was going in to town on the bus and did she want anything? Ended up with a long list, including which shop to go to for what, and came back with arms like an Orangutang........
I only went to buy one last Christmas present!

loopylou I made that fatal mistake yesterday when I asked my neighbour did she need anything from supermarket,she asked me to get her a Daily paper so no problems there I thought, only they where all sold out and not wanting to disappoint her I ended up giving her my said same paper instead so she was not missing out on her daily read.

Two hams cooking, just finished coating the chocolate log, having a lovely quiet ten minutes with my feet up. Had DGS (7) all day yesterday to give my daughter time to get her food shopping done. We baked buns (ye gods what a mess he can make!), made sugar decorations for the Christmas cake, played football on the landing (yes, a soft ball), sat and covered one of his action figures in duct tape (no I don't know why either!), then played cards and dominoes. By the time he went home DH and I were on our knees, but I wouldn't swap it for the world.

Just putting the finishing touches to a nut roast wellington for veggie DiL. Grandchildren due here shortly to make some chocolate truffles and coconut ice to give as presents. Last time we did that, I had a dog with pink streaks in her coat and a 3 year old who looked like Casoer the Ghost, covered in icing sugar. Just made the mince pies - with old Christmas music playing in the background. DH (and I) road tested them and they are delicious if I do say so myself.
