I have lived alone for 14 yrs since my divorce and spent every Christmas with my mother, my sister and her extended family. Since mother died I have been invited to my nieces home with my sister and whilst I have been happy to accept her invitation, I do feel I'm the spare part. I have not had an invitation as yet and find I feel relieved. Am I alone in this response? I don't feel a burden, I just don't feel I fit if that makes sense! I will be going to see my son, his partner and my grandson on Christmas morning as I do every year. They go to her family or have her family to their home.
What a pickle for one day a year. Why does it cause such palava?
