Clever and quite funny, but not kind. The aspirations of another country wishing for independence would not be mocked like this. Reminds me of the cruelties of eighteenth century political satire.

Quite nasty actually. I'm not sure Scottish Gnetters will share this sense of humour.

Marelli Wed 17-Sept-14 18:09:55

Really rather silly.

Penstemmon Wed 17-Sept-14 18:11:54

I am sure that someone could , and probably will, create an equally spiteful map of England/Wales/ N Ireland! Then we can all have a laugh confused

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 17-Sept-14 18:14:39

The only bit that's funny is the "leased to Norway" bit in the corner. I like that.

Elegran Wed 17-Sept-14 18:34:14

I have no doubt it will be all over the net soon.

annodomini Wed 17-Sept-14 18:58:50

Pettiness - Hardly worth commenting on. hmm

baubles Wed 17-Sept-14 19:48:46

confused is this supposed to be funny?

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 17-Sept-14 19:56:44

All "yes-errs" are you? (except anno of course) grin

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 17-Sept-14 19:57:37

It's not that bad. hmm

thatbags Wed 17-Sept-14 20:04:56

Countries don't have aspirations, elegran. Populations of countries might, or fractions of populations as seems to be the indyref case. #pedanticme ;)

Elegran Wed 17-Sept-14 20:05:07

No I am not a yesser, but I don't like the flavour of this.

Elegran Wed 17-Sept-14 20:06:25

Poetic licence, Thatbags, like Henry VIII's brother Arthur who claimed to have been in Spain.

thatbags Wed 17-Sept-14 20:07:56

smile

thatbags Wed 17-Sept-14 20:09:01

Has anyone else noticed that if you type a colon and a closing bracket you get a smile smiley but if you type a semi-colon and a closing bracket you don't get a winky smiley?

Tut tut, HQ ;)

Ana Wed 17-Sept-14 20:13:11

No. I use the words in square brackets.

Wheniwasyourage Wed 17-Sept-14 20:16:46

Oh well, I'm a Yes-er, and I thought it was funny! Some of the plays on names are clever and I don't feel insulted, whereas I have found some comments on other threads quite hurtful. Hope this doesn't get deleted because I've mentioned "other threads"! hmm

Elegran Wed 17-Sept-14 20:26:53

You are allowed to think it funny, wheniwasyourage like Dave Allen telling Irish jokes.

Wheniwasyourage Wed 17-Sept-14 20:45:04

Thank you! You must admit, though, some of it is quite witty, and so I give you permission to find it funny too grin

thatbags Wed 17-Sept-14 20:58:07

Everyone's allowed to think it funny, or unfunny. #equality

Elegran Wed 17-Sept-14 21:13:22

Thank you, WhenIwasyourage! Yes, it is witty, and funny in a way, but I still don't like it.
