DBH went out shopping today. I was just now passing the front door when I saw him approaching carrying a large box, so I opened the door, grabbed the box from him, putting it on the floor and turned back to hug him saying 'Hello Dear!'

Whereupon a very nice man who looked NOTHING like DBH said, 'That was the nicest, friendliest greeting I have had all day!'

blush

Was tempted to add kisses under my signature, but desisted. He wasn't bad, but not that good.

janerowena Fri 11-Jul-14 17:07:08

Quite. You never know.

Nonu Fri 11-Jul-14 17:30:52

JANERA , love it .

Mind you if you had gone to BOOTS, you would get advantage points .

Giggle

Janer - hope the box contained something worth having!! grin

janerowena Fri 11-Jul-14 18:10:30

No! It was a new rucksack for DS!

DBH is now back and thought it was very funny. DS on the other hand was slightly horrified!

Ok then, Boots it is! I'm long-sighted, so wasn't actually wearing glasses at the time. Maybe I had better start wearing them all the time!

Do you always hug your OH when he comes home from a shopping trip?

I don't. (Not that he goes on many)

rosequartz Fri 11-Jul-14 18:22:43

Oh! The parcel was for you after all - I thought it was someone who had gone to the wrong house who got a hug in exchange for his parcel!!

Nonu Fri 11-Jul-14 18:27:52

I guess JANERA & hubby are very tactile people !

Can"t imagine hugging himself every time he comes in the door !

In fact a lot of the time he is calling out for me to move the shopping in !

Know what, I do it , I am such a dear and helpful soul .

Love it janerowena I find at the moment my life is full of lovely young men from the Boots driver who delivers DH medication, to new care package and phew is he good looking am I in danger of becoming a "panther" is that the right term. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Ana Fri 11-Jul-14 18:35:54

No, it's 'cougar', sparky! grin

I don't hug my DH when he comes back from a shopping trip, either, even though it's a very rare occurrence...

Had he been gone for a very long time, janerowena?

sparkygran Fri 11-Jul-14 19:30:28

Ah Ana of course its cougar am of course keeping myself in check but enjoying the scenery!!!!

janerowena Fri 11-Jul-14 19:30:47

He had been gone all day, as he was doing lots of other things at school first, meetings with cross parents wanting Little Johnny to be moved up a set, that sort of thing, then shopping.

I was just feeling in a huggy mood, that's all! I had been dancing and singing around the kitchen whilst making flapjacks. It was a wasted hug, by the time he got back he just got a peck on the cheek. Then I told him the story and he hugged me, instead. Yes, we do still hug, although I tell him it's just to take the strain off my hips for a bit. grin

Crafting Fri 11-Jul-14 20:34:05

Oh sparkygran you panther! Sounds more sexy than a cougar to me grin

janerowena Sat 12-Jul-14 00:21:39

It does, doesn't it.

We have only been together for 20 years, when is he likely to want to stop hugging then?

kittylester Sat 12-Jul-14 07:43:37

We still hug quite a bit janer but we've only been married 43 years!

PRINTMISS Sat 12-Jul-14 07:52:34

We still hug, but it is more like a leaning on each other! Still enjoy it.

janerowena Sat 12-Jul-14 12:32:23

I would hugely miss having a person to hug. At the darkest moments it is a huge comfort. And it's cheaper than shopping and less fattening than cake.

sunseeker Sat 12-Jul-14 13:13:35

Oh how I miss those hugs! My DH would often just walk into a room and give me a big bear hug for no other reason than he felt like it - and I loved it.

Galen Sat 12-Jul-14 13:56:18

I miss hugs and kisses as well.

Marmight Sat 12-Jul-14 14:50:47

Me too. I had pushed all that to the back of my mind - too raw to think about it all. Lucky people - make the most of all those hugs........

janerowena Sat 12-Jul-14 15:20:59

I know. I have a best friend (one of two!) who, every time I see her, asks if I will give her a big hug. Of course I do. We love each other too. But still it's not the same as having someone there every day, sorry to stir up memories, but I have been through that lack a couple of times and know how it feels, so I fully appreciate it now while I have it. So does he, men like hugs too.

sparkygran Mon 14-Jul-14 19:44:48

Am off to "panther" hug him - maybe I`ll start a trend - by the way have absolutely no idea what I`m talking about

rosesarered Mon 14-Jul-14 20:21:33

Perhaps we should all start hugging passing delivery men, it will brighten their day [maybe ours too] grin

janerowena Mon 14-Jul-14 22:40:58

It certainly kept me laughing for a few hours!
