This morning someone scraped my new (to me) car whilst it was parked in Waitrose.

The heading was supposed to be sad angry

Maybe cannot use emoticons in a header.

I love that car.

Lona Tue 13-May-14 13:33:27

Do they have CCTV cameras?

annsixty Tue 13-May-14 13:45:14

Someone "rammed" a trolley into ours last week in a supermarket car park last week and smashed the rear light cluster and scratched down to metal. It is going to be expensive to replace but we have quite a large excess so we have to pay.

petallus Tue 13-May-14 13:46:37

CCTV cameras. Mmmm!

BeeWitch Tue 13-May-14 13:51:31

Sorry to hear that petallus. I suppose it's too much to hope that whoever did is feeling really guilty. hmm.

No one was hurt or killed, a car is just a means of getting from one place to another. Cheer up! The first scrape is always the worst!

The wind blew my trolley into my daughter's car which I was borrowing leaving a dent. To this day I have not admitted it was me when she cusses it. Still not nice to damage a stranger's car, am sorry for you.

Nonu Tue 13-May-14 15:22:08

A car can be a life line for some people Hunt.

I would not be very amused if someone had scraped my car , in fact I would be rather miffed !

:-(

Happened to me too. Got back to my (new to me) car and found someone had sideswiped it over two panels. I was angry to say the least. It cost £890 to repair including my £300 excess.

J52 Tue 13-May-14 15:54:48

Sympathies, I have carefully looked after my car for years, new style Beetle, in showroom condition. Then a few months ago someone keyed it all down one side! It is done out of some weird jealousy, I can only hope what goes around comes around. Some people are seriously sad! flowersx

Galen Tue 13-May-14 16:04:47

Happened to me in waitrose as well. Twice!

Someone rammed our car in Asda`s car park a few years ago, they have CCTV, but wouldn`t you just know it, the one concerned was out of order that day!

Ana Tue 13-May-14 16:17:03

Would the police do anything about it anyway, as the car park of a supermarket is presumably private land?

Galen Tue 13-May-14 16:33:13

Doesn't matter apparently. They found the number of the person who reversed into me. But they decided not to prosecute as the damage was minor.

goldengirl Tue 13-May-14 16:38:41

My son saw someone damaging wing mirrors and ran after the guy and took a photograph. He reported it to the police who found the man and arrested him! I thought he was terribly brave - my son that is, not the vandal! - because these days anything could have happened.

annodomini Tue 13-May-14 16:38:51

Hunt - a woman after my own heart. The scratches on my Yaris are mostly - but not all - my own doing. I admit it.

Lona Tue 13-May-14 16:48:52

I have a couple of scrapes in the same place on my car, where people have tried to get in a small space behind it.
It's just a means of getting from A to B, so I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Nonu Tue 13-May-14 17:58:24

I think a lot of people need their vehicle to get around, would be totally lost without them.

I could manage as I live right in the centre of town, but I know of friends who live in the "sticks", so would be rather stuck !

Nonu Tue 13-May-14 18:13:17

Our old "BETSY" is our pride & joy, very old , but who cares, does what we want, so again will say would be miffed if some "person" scratched it .

Plus it costs money to have these things taken care of !

Hmm
