I cleaned the hinge seal on the bottom of the dishwasher door, it was very gunky (if there is such a word)

What was your worst job today?

Galen Fri 18-Apr-14 13:17:26

Got out of bed!

Dusting and wiping down my white fitted wardrobes in the bedroom, followed by trying to sort out and bag up winter clothes, then sorting through all the bedroom draws, cleaning the mirrors and glass. Been at since 7.30 and still not done. Wish I was the sort to de clutter. I spend to much time moving one lot of stuff , then a few months later moving it again. Oh well best get on

Bringing logs from the bottom of the long steep drive to restock the log store. Brother in law who normally does this for me has hurt his shoulder. Hopefully won't need to be lighting any more fires, but need them there just in case!

Washing my incontinent rabbit's back end in a bowl of sudsy water, drying his fur with a hairdryer and applying ointment to his urine scalded legs.

Poo bag duty in the garden! Love the dog, wish I had someone else who would do it occasionally.

Feeding charcoal 'slurry' to my idiotic Springer through a cow size syringe, after she found and ate two small chocolate eggs my equally idiotic lovely daughter hid in the garden for the GC to find. Without telling me. Even though she knows chocolate is toxic to dogs.

Is chocolate really toxic to dogs? My Mother [years and years ago] always used to give pieces of her chocolate bar to our dog [who loved it], this was about twice a week, and he lived to be quite old.It was never stated by any vet [back then] that dogs should never eat any chocolate.

DebnCreme Fri 18-Apr-14 15:52:15

Not all dogs are affected roses the trouble is you don't 'know' that until they have eaten the chocolate. We had a demented but adorable red setter/golden retriever cross and one Easter he found the children's stash of eggs whilst we were all asleep. Come Easter morning all that was left was a trail of silver paper. Fortunately he suffered no ill effects whatsoever.

Worst job for me, cleaning the kitchen which has been allowed to fester whilst OH was decorating tbublush. ah well, done now.

I have often wondered about that rosesarered My nan used to give chocolate to her JR he lived to 13 yrs although he was shaped like a barrel on legs tbusmile

Unloading the weeks shopping and putting it away. Boring chore.

Dragonfly1 Fri 18-Apr-14 16:01:53

Chocolate contains theobromine which is toxic to dogs in large enough quantities. Dark chocolate is the worst. The toxic dose is dependent on the weight of the dog, but a guide is a kilo of milk chocolate per 30 kilos of dog. No amount of chocolate is 'safe' as all dogs will react differently, so should never be given. My mutt ate only a tiny amount, but when I was vet nursing I saw quite a few dogs poisoned by chocolate, one of which died before we could help it. Not worth the risk.

Worst job of the day? VAT re-claim for Parish Council. Worse than incontinent bunnies for someone with my natural gift for accountancy.
But just finished, hurrah!smile

Breaking up a fence panel that came down during the February gales and carting it down the garden to the car to go to the tip.

goldengirl Fri 18-Apr-14 16:56:20

Vaccing. And then writing a critique of a website prototype. All done now thankfully.

feetlebaum Fri 18-Apr-14 16:57:03

Washing up - haven't done it yet... I just hate it, that's all. Must do it now, I suppose...

Nonu Fri 18-Apr-14 17:56:07

I know choccie is supposed to be toxic to dogs but our old Lab didn't when she ate half a chocolate "Easter nest" birthday cake covered in melted chocolate icing and also the mini chocolate eggs from the middle. She lay in her bed and groaned but still licked her lips! She was subsequently very sick and had the gallops for the next 3 days but other than that, we got away with it!

Aka Fri 18-Apr-14 19:14:21

My washing machine has broken down, just before the spin cycle. Drained it manually but still lots of soggy clothes to hand wring. Still not dry.

janerowena Fri 18-Apr-14 20:41:10

Had to repot a large standard rose that was leaning over. As I pulled it up out of its pot, I realised the whole of the bottom was one giant ant's nest. I had to keep pulling, so ended up with ants all over my jeans and in my shoes, biting me.
