We saw a brilliant Beatles tribute band on holiday once. They were Russian and better than the Beatles.

Then again we saw a Rod Stewart tribute act and to be honest it was embarrassing to watch. He enjoyed himself bless him, quite oblivious to what people were thinking.

We're going to see the ELO Experience at the Cambridge Corn Exchange at the end of the month. Haven't seen a tribute band before but really looking forward to it.

I have seen two Queen tribute acts, one was exceptional but spoilt by the ageing audience jumping up and down waving their arms. There comes a time when your bottom should remain firmly in it's seat.

Pogs I will wear white tights and matching stretch boots, something I couldn't afford then.

At one of these shows my DH went to the loo and came back saying it was full of balding old men !! Shall I tell him or will you ?

I couldn't stay in my seat listening to Queen music

We had a Queen tribute band on the Island and they were exeptionally good - it was great singing along with the songs.

We also went to see an Abba tribute band that was okay but the one who stole the show was the young woman performing as Tina Turner - she had it absolutely spot on and, for me, was definitely the star of the show. About as close as many of us are likely to get to the real thing!

Holly if you ever have a lad called Ben who does a Michael Jackson show come to your island get yourself tickets. We are waiting for him to come back to our area again, so we can see a repeat of the show it was fab.

Do you know the name of the girl who did the Tina T impression as we would like to see her too?

I also do not want to pay for a ticket for a show just to listen to the audience singing along, usually badly

DD1 bought us tickets for Connie Fisher's last performance as Maria in The Sound Of Music at the London Palladium. As we were settling down in our excellent seats we heard the women in the row behind us saying that they'd 'Got their singing voices with them.' We glanced at each other in mutual rebellion. At the first squeak we spun round and glared at them. It didn't quite work so we huffed and puffed and finally plucked up the courage to tell them to SHUT UP!

Like tribute bands. Going to see Too Rex next month and would like to see a good Bob Marley tribute but never seen any around our area .

NanKate - no, sorry, I don't remember her name (this was about 12 years ago (we don't get that many coming here - I can't imagine why lol)) but she really did steal the show; when ABBA came back on, I think everyone would rather Tina Turner had carried on going!

I will keep an eye open for Ben if he comes here - I love watching Michael Jackson videos sometimes and wishing I could dance (and sing) just like that.

harrigran - at the one at the Gaiety Theatre when the Queen Tribute Band appeared, at a point in the evening, they asked people to join in; up until that point, people had sat listening to the songs. If 'Freddie' asks us to sing along with him, I'm not going to say no

Hello Holly, when you said you lived on an island I thought of the Isle of Wight, Cyprus, Malta etc but I gather from what you say you are somewhere remote, possibly Shetland. If you don't want to say where you live that is fine.

Talking of Shetland have you see the latest series on the BBC set in Shetland? They are written by Ann Cleeves a favourite author of mine.

Tribute bands - yes I love them.
Last year we went to a Warners hotel where the entertainment was a Frankie Valli & the four seasons tribute band ... If you closed your eyes you'd have believed it was them.

Hello NanKate - no, nowhere as exotic as Malta; I live on the Isle of Man but for some reason, the bigger acts tend not to want to come here.

My favourite band are still going strong after 40 years in the business. Don't need a tribute band although I do believe there is one for Runrig.

Holly I guessed you were on the IOM because I had a friend who lived there and always referred to it as "the island". I love to visit the IOM

The Isle of Man is nice if you enjoy the great outdoors but not much to do if the weather is bad.

Myself and three friends are going to a Rod Stewart tribute at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool on Sunday, staying overnight.Looking forward to it, but hope its not the embarrassing one you saw,POGS![hmmm]
