And also happy to share this very good explanation of what secularism is and what it is not by Adrian Short, especially as Baroness Warsi either doesn't or simply refuses to understand that secularism is no threat to religion. Equally it is no threat to non-religion either. That is the point.

The Wiki article on secular states is interesting. So many that purport to be secular are not and and are quite repressive in their actions. Turkey is just one example. It takes a long time for the institutions of government and the state to allow real freedom of religious practice to those who wish it and to desist from imposing religious practice on those who do not wish it.

Yes indeed. Perhaps the Wiki article should specify "so-called" secular states. I've picked up from the news that Turkey has made a turn away from the secularism it had achieved (change of leadership, I suppose), which is sad.
