Paper post

100% of what the postman brought this morning went straight into the paper recycling bin. Quite often it is at least 75%.

Are other people thus affected?

What happened to reducing our use of paper? We seem to use ever more and most of it is just food for recycling plants if my experience is anything to go by.

There are annoying amounts of junk mail these days. I almost threw away a real letter the other day , nestling amongst all the rubbish things. That would have been a shame as I rarely get a personal letter, it's all email now [mea culpa on that score myself!]

bags the postmen around here are paid extra to deliver junk mail which really annoys me. I am considering doing what my neighbours have done, print a notice saying that I do not want junk mail delivered.

Same here. In Malta we are inundated with junk mail trying to sell us stuff we don't want. It goes straight into the recycling as well. Such a waste. angry

Oh yes. It drives me mad. I suppose the advertising must work though or they wouldn't do it. I also shake any magazines I buy whilst in the shop and leave all the leaflets on the shelf.

I do the same ginny. I hate junk mail and the person who leaves me Betterware and never collects it is a pain too. I've never bought Betterware and don't intend to. We also get local people touting for custom too for gardening or ironing or the like with scrappy bits of paper put through the letterbox.

DH and I separate our post with a pile to be 'filed' this is the majority of it and a few to read. Filed stuff goes straight in the recycling bin. smile

During the recent storms we were amazed the postman made it down our farm road every day because it was riddled with deep, flooded potholes. He must have felt p****d off knowing that he was only shoving junk mail through the letterbox.

We're off road too, merlot. I often want to tell him not to bother coming up the hill and bumping through all the puddles if it's only junk but he probably has to. Hey ho.

If you go to the Royal Mail website you can find out how to stop junk mail being delivered to your home. They can only stop the mail that is addressed to "The Householder" but it does make quite a difference. Hope that helps smile

You can try this link too www.mpsonline.org.uk/

We made use of the mps system Juneypam and it has made a big difference to our mail deliveries.
