Soop's welcoming kitchen!

I've sneaked in while it's relatively empty, need somewhere quiet and beautiful to hide for a while. Soop I hope you're on the mend and don't mind me curling up under the tartan rug for an hour or so.

That's the joy of these threads Nonnie (see 1000 post on 'extension, extension), you just pop in and out as you might to a friend's house and you take up the chatter from that moment on. I love coming in here it is so relaxed and some fruit cake to have with our afternoon

Ooh, it's cosy and welcoming here. I've made some granary bread - it's still warm. I've been out in the garden whilst it was in the oven, and came in feeling cold - so sunny, but still nippy. Here's some butter and a jar of Heather honey. Any coffee going?

Thank you so much but I will abstain if you do not mind. I am trying to keep my weight in check- yes I am aware that it is an ever ending battle. I will stroke Rory instead, he loves TLC and purrs gently. Tara has retired to bed for her afternoon nap.

I love granary bread when especially with plenty butter. Yum. Here is a fresh pot of coffee. Please help yourselves.

Well now, welcome, one and all. I'm chuffed to bits that you are well settled and enjoying the freshly baked bread and heather honey. Wow! Yes please. I shall have a large slice with plenty of butter and honey. Thanks for the coffee, Agus that was very of you. I'm ready for a cup right this minute.

Rory appears to be getting used to your company. He has just strolled through the door. Been pretending to stalk something or other...whatever it was, it escaped his naughty intention.

The day is one of the best for ages. I hope that our Granspals who have had a nasty tummy are now beginning to feel over the worst and on the mend.

I'm taking a little break in here, if I may. Have been amusing DGD all morning while her mum and my DH get on with painting the house. It's a gorgeous sunny day but we have been driven indoors by the gnats which seem to find us delicious! The itching is unbearable.

Bellasnana Poor you. Midges have been known to drive us indoors on many a quiet, warm, evening. How can anything so small cause such big problems. When the house was being built, the builders were forced to wear protective gear. bags has the kit. I've seen a photo of her wearing it as she tends her garden.

Work bench? That's what I would call a very smart office. Well done that man. Very envious of such a handy DH soop. When DH decides to do some DIY in our house we use the term BIY (break it yourself) not his forte at all but as he says, he can't be perfect at everything!!!

Lona it does look good...constructed from a redundant table. It fits the space well. I've room to place my easel and the natural light is a bonus. When I worked in the loft, the overhead lighting was barely adequate. Then I worked in the kitchen. Inconvenient, to say the least.

I've just heard that Tortoiseshell has arrived. She's waiting for her supper. Time for me to log off.

It is indeed a splendid work bench. I'm also impressed by all your photos especially as I am still only able to put on one photo at a time

As for the midges - I remember we were plagued by them when visiting my sister in Scotland. I'm used to the mosquitoes in Malta, but the midges are much worse! Protective gear sounds like a good idea.

Hope everyone who was not well is feeling better now, and we can share a slice of the coffee and walnut cake I made. Walnuts are apparently very good for you, so feel free to have as many slices as you like. No calories whatsoever in this special recipe.

Just to let you know I had a lovely paddle in the sea yesterday during our visit to West Wales. Am I the first one to venture into the chilly British coastal waters this year or are some of you year-round swimmers? When I say 'lovely' perhaps that was an exaggeration. DGDs enjoyed it very much, however , as did their other DGM!

X-ray shows NO broken bones so I can trot along to Cheltenham tomorrow and meet up with lovely Tegan. Medic says gentle exercise!

Hope that our poorly Granspals are feeling so much better. Whatever the bug was, it didn't hang around for too long. Mind you, if it had, I would have become severely dehydrated and in need of a drip.

It is a glorious day in bonnie Kintyre. I'm about to hang the washing out to dry. So much nicer when dried in the fresh air.

MacTavish went into the garden to deal with a blockage of mud in a narrow structural orifice...shoved a stick into said thingy and was rewarded well. He returned to the kitchen with a mud-spattered beard and hair. He was laughing. So I joined in.

At lunchtime, we'll be attending the funeral of our friend who died peacefully in his sleep. He was a good man.

AlieO so sorry that you've had a nasty incident with an angry dog. I shall make a fresh just for you. x

Home again after our friend's funeral. The kirk was packed to the rafters. He was a good, kind man. The very best way to be remembered by those who knew him.

A perfect day with no wind, a calm sea and cloudless sky. As I was pegging out the washing, a bumble bee flew close by. A lovely sound is the buzz...
