What a scary thought - I do think Time travel may be invented, but I heartily wish they would work on teleporting first, to avoid all the time and cost wasted in travelling.

Scientists have succeeded in teleporting particles of light, and single atoms, but people could have to stick to the old ways of time travel - looking at old photos and reminiscing.

Time machines are a paradox....... if you haven't been born yet, how could you exist? How could there be two of you existing
if you went back to the sixties? Only the stuff of sci-fi, although teleporting may become possible, one never knows! Beam me up Scotty.

I heard Brian Green the physicist give a lecture (he was involved in the discovery of string theory) and he was asked about time travel. He said that going forward would be possible but we would never be able to travel back . I can't remember his reasoning, sorry.

I would love to go back to our back garden from when I was a child. All nasturtiums, sweet William and marigolds. And it was always sunny.

Only possible if you had all the energy you had then (or more, because knowing what we know now, we would want to cram in more experiences while we could)

You would also need to KNOW everything that we know now, so as to make the most of it and avoid the mistakes we made first time round . . . .but then we would be open to making other mistakes. Too complicated!

I don't think a time machine could be made, but it is a great device for writing science fiction. First thought of by HG Wells and often used.
But if I could travel back it would be to New Zealand before the Maori arrived. When it was covered in a forest of ancient trees and giant ferns and stuffed full of the most amazing birds that have since become extinct. What colour were the various species of Moa? Kiwis everywhere as well as many beautiful and melodious species (guessing this from their maori names). And all totally unafraid of because there were no people and no predators (no mammals other than bats and seals) other than a huge eagle that occasionally dropped out of trees to make a kill.

I often amuse myself trying to imagine the reactions of a Jane Austen or a Shakespeare (for instance) to today's world. Very soon, always, I just end up stunned.

If time travel were possible I would travel into the future to when they had found a cure for cancer and other diseases and bring the cures back with me. Although if you think of it logically, if it is the future it hasn't happened yet so how could you travel to it?

Yes, I would love to have a time machine just to visit past "scenes" in my life. I wouldn't want to change anything but simply reinforce the memories of these events. - How many trips am I allowed to have?

I would love to go back to when dinosaurs ruled the world .
Otherwise I am not interested in going back in time , like to live in the now , no looking back !!

I'd go back to before my DD died, just to cuddle her and tell her how much I love her one more time.

The only thing I'd like to go back for would be to ask my grannies and my parents more about their family history.

I would love to go back in time to save my DM from a life of sexual abuse by her father. Also go forward a few years to spend time with my adored Dad.

I agree with the family history questions, annodomini. My parents died before I became interested in my family tree. How I wish I had taken more notice when they spoke of their childhoods. So many questions!
