That was the first disc I ever bought.
I was 12 or 13!
The housemistress at my boarding school only just allowed it as I was a 'serious child'
Of course I'm still the same 'serious' adult.

I had that record and loved it, thought it was just SO romantic. Aaah!

Sorry number I've just been doing a lot of random stuff, so varied, John Martin "may you never", then at mr P's request "Cousin Norman" then I warp off into a couple of Findly Dripgusset ( sorry, an anagram of "Dusty Springfield)

Luuurve my music, and especially the diversity! (Nimrod from Elgars enigma variations is on my list)

The next one I bought was Cathys clown!

Thanks for that Phoenix. I heard your song and then clicked on many of the other links down the side. I have had an evening down Memory Lane, with The Platters, Rightous Brothers, Billy Fury, The Crystals and so many more. Does not make me feel old, just transports me back to my really happy teenage years.

My first LP was Buddy Holly - Peggy Sue, Every day etc. I was 13, and only had two other singles.

I listened to that LP with my friends, Ariadne. We played it over and over until we wore the record out from constant handling and trying to drop the old-fashioned needle on to our favourite tracks.

Oh, I loved that Phoenix. I've been warbling away ever since I heard it. Fortunately DH has gone out.

Blimey - you are all much younger than I thought! Shame really - you missed a lot of good stuff - well... some good stuff. All those early Doris Day recordings with Les Brown (best she ever was, in my view), Les Paul and Mary Ford - no, you're all irredeemably post-Bill Haley - what a shame!

The first LP I ever bought was Frank Sinatra Songs for Swinging Lovers, quite a long time ago. 50s I think.

My first ever single was the Woolworths cover version of Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, by Paul Rich. My first ever LP was Elvis`s Blue Hawaii.

First record I bought was a 78 (that's all there were then!) of Bunk Johnson's
Weary Blues. The second was Tito Gobbi (a 12" record!) singing the Largo al Factotum. I think it was Nessun dorma on the other side...

I love that Phoenix. I was a teenager in the 60s and the 60s stuff is my favourite. I had an older sister who used to play all that lovely 50s music.
She loved Elvis and also used to play Pat Boone, Johnny Tillotson, Eddie
Cochran and such like, so I got to know all the songs. She owned the record player so the music was always of her choosing!

'Trains and Boats and Planes' was my first single. Anyone remember that? Who sang it? I can't remember! Beatles' "Hard Day's Night" was my first LP. That places me firmly as a child of the Sixties doesn't it? The record that I played until it was worn out at that time was "Paint it Black" by the Rolling Stones. I was a bit of a 'Depressed' teenager

The first single I bought was What do want if you don't want money? By Adam Faith. I thought his London accent was exotic!

First LP? Well, I was older by the time I could afford one of those and it was a compilation of songs by Purcell including Nymphs and Shepherds. I still think the melody is wonderful.

Jud - Trains and Boats and Planes was Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas, although
someone may have done it before them. My first LP ws A Hard Days night too. Start of a life long love affair with the Beatles (well in my head anyway).

On a Saturday evening, in the 1950s we watched The Six Five Special and I was rather taken with Frankie Vaughan - Green Door and When You Walk in the Garden. And who could forget Rock Around the Clock?
But the first LP I bought for myself was Beethoven's Archduke Trio.

I think Trains and Boats and Plains was done by Dionne Warwick as well as Billy J Kramer. I saw him in concert at Derby Baths - don't know how that worked

Concerts in the old days were brilliant with loads of people on one bill and no pyrotechnics or other fancy stuff - just good music.

My first LP was West Side Story. First single was 'Sorrow' - maybe by the Swinging Blue Jeans (or maybe someone else). I saw them in concert too - but at the Gaumont!
