quick question about cheques

If somebody has paid in a cheque to my account at 1pm today, how long before it shows as a credit to my account?

If it was paid into your branch then its in your account now BUT banks always allows a certain number of days before the say the money is 'Cleared'...i.e. available for you to use. It would be best to ask your bank as in varries from bank to bank nowadays.

HildaW is correct my bank states to allow 5 days for a cheque to clear although it may already show as a credit in your acc.
