I have been pondering on the nature of racism. It is perhaps understandable for indigenous people to be wary of newcomers who might bring in strange traditions and practices which seem to threaten the way they live. However, the USA has had a large Negro population for over two hundred years. As far as I know, there have been no cases of African-Americans being involved in terrorist attacks. Yet still they are disproportionately represented in all statistics of poverty, imprisonment and ill health.
Why? What are white Americans frightened of? Could it be guilt about slavery - or even the myth of black sexual prowess?
Cookery books and other books - are you keeping them ?
