Where to buy a decent rollator?

We bought Dad's four-wheel walking frame from the Mobility Centre Midlands outlet at our local Dobbies garden centre.
The four-wheel ones are more stable than the three-wheel ones. It has a seat he can sit on.

We also bought his mobility scooter from them.

We found them very helpful in determining which would suit him and not at all pushy.

Specialist shop selling gadgets and walking aids on the high street are better for seeing if it actually helps you
I “inherited “ a rollator , used it for years !went to a shop and bought a new one as the first was rattling

The old one was the wrong height and it definitely made a difference trying it out ,
I wonder if you could hire an aid , your knee will get better

It's well worth trying out a few before buying. I remember seeing patients doing rollator testing in a ward I was visiting. The right height, room for stride length as well as potential storage space for things needing transported from room to room as well as a seat at the optimal height all matter. Sometimes I think they should be fitted with indicator lights and a horn!

Definitely go somewhere where you can try them out. Take into account whether you want to use it indoors or out. If out will it need to fit into the boot of a car and how heavy is it to lift out.

I found one enormously helpful while waiting for a THR but it is essential that you have it at the right height. I did wish mine came with a headlight and indicator lights.

I could have done with a rear view mirror as well!!

Any mobility shop.
Try before you buy.
Find one that you like & make sure that it is the correct height for you.
Then look on line & find cheaper.
Mobility shops are terribly expensive.

My Dh was given one by the NHS stroke team.
He hates it as it runs away from him. Also the brakes are ineffective.
I see lots of people with them and they seem to get on ok with them 😤

It's a whole subject!!
I ordered one online but although very sturdy it was too heavy.
Now I have a square shopping trolley which is very light but gives me a help with my balance.
It's light enough to lift outside the front door.

You might be able to get one supplied by Occupational/Community Therapy. They've just supplied me with a new 3 wheeled one to replace one I bought from Amazon a few years ago.

Definitely do try to find somewhere you can go and look and get advice and properly measured for size. The correct height and style is important for stability and reasons for use.

As this is your first rollator, definitely go to a shop. They will advise you on the correct size, and you can check out the height of the seat. Also, you can see how they fold and unfold, and practice doing it yourself. Much better than making a guess with an on line purchase.
