Sky Soundbox

Are you a Sky Q subscriber Glenfinnan? Not knowing what a Sky soundbox was, I read a review. This was in the conclusion: Although optimised for Sky Q, the Soundbox can be used with older Sky+ HD boxes. But they can’t take advantage of the Sky Q Sound modes.
It does sound good though, as it evens out sound and volume, although sound effects in films are evened out too!

Just wondering if you could get a sound bar compatible with your TV? Be much cheaper to buy.

We have Sky and had trouble hearing clearly too. DH bought a sound bar-not from Sky. It is much better. Don't always switch it on but it does help when -we can't hear-they're mumbling.

Many years ago I found it helpful to use subtitles, which The Wonderful Man good-naturedly wittered about. Now he's very quick to switche them on himself!

We are interested in this too. We have a sound bar but find it doesn't work as well as we hoped. The size and shape of the Sky one is slightly odd compared to others and it won't sit where our current one does. Wed cope with that if it was worth it.

It's odd that before sound bars and the like were invented people seemed to be able to hear what was being said on the TV quite well I believe. Then suddenly there's a dip in sound quality just at the time sound bars are being peddled.

I think it's to do with televisions becoming so slim, ga, which means the internal speakers are not so effective. They are also on the side of the set rather than the front.

Our TV gets switched on so rarely that I could never justify the expense of a sound bar, plus I like having subtitles as otherwise, even with good sound quality, I know I miss things. I suppose because quite a lot of our viewing is of foreign films we're totally comfortable with subtitles.

We were thinking about a soundbar but have now started using subtitles, it makes a difference when you know what the shows about.

We invested in wireless headphones mainly because of noisy neighbours,but they are brilliant for mumbling programmes.

We use out TV to watch Music and we play CDs through the DVD player so a soundbar works for us in that way too.

Thank you all for your comments. You are right kitty Lester we bought a new HD smart tv which is very slim and obviously the manufacturers have concentrated on the picture quality rather than the sound. If we do go ahead with buying a sound box I’ll post what I think of them. Thank you again

Changing SkyQ from HDMI3 in my TV To HDMI1 I have had a much better performance. Soundbox menu has remained visible for 2 days. TV Turns on with one long press of power button on SkyQ remote, then one short press turns on SkyQ box and soundbox together. You can also get more help here - press1for.co.uk/sky-customer-services/
