Silver box for first tooth or first lock of hair to be cut? Birth certificate holder (tube shape). How about an heirloom shawl or a silver teething rattle?

how about a Taggie which is a small blanket with little silky tags round the edge which babies seem to love when they get a bit older. Not very big so should not be too expensive to post. Congratulations!
If you do go for a 'taggy'' can I suggest you get a duplicate or two. My GD goes nowhere without hers and 'Wabbit' has been lost more than once. DD managed to get a couple of (very expensive) replacements but it is now out of stock and only available on e-Bay for over £50 - I kid you not!! 
Good old M&S periodically have free delivery to Australia - I've just checked and it is on at the moment. It is really good - my daughter spends many a happy hour at her laptop choosing what she would like me to send out for her little twins 
Thank you all so much for your suggestions. I have looked at Australian websites to get something delivered from there but unfortunately I have not been inspired so far. I would like to send something "British", especially as mummy is Australian and I am sure they will get many gifts from her Australian family.
To be honest the only thing I want to give the baby is a cuddle but that isn't possible. Finding it very hard.
I sympathise Hespian on both counts - my first DGD was born and lives in the US. I miss her and her little brother greatly.

I agree with the Amazon suggestion, though I don't know if it works as well for Australia as it does for the States.
