Quilted fabric - help!

Hello all,
I am wanting to quilt a plain bedspread by adding quilted lining fabric onto the back of it & sewing along the lines….the only trouble is, I want the quilted fabric to be in vertical/horizontal squares rather than the usual diamond shapes. Does anyone know where I could get that type? I have found a waterproof one but think that would be too slippery and would slide off the bed if we moved when under it!
