Who else watching this on Channel 4?

Starring David Morrissey and Alan Cumming.

Written by Russell T Davies.

I really couldn’t get into this and switched off after half an hour.

Kandinsky Tue 02-Jun-26 10:33:48

I’m enjoying it so far.
Love Alan Cumming. Showing my age here but I loved him in ‘come fly with me’.
I think it’s obvious how it’s going to end though.

Same here, Kandinsky. Alan Cumming is a favourite of mine, and isn't he just brilliant in this.
I'm already sad about the ending though....but perhaps it won't be what we expect...

Grandmabatty Tue 02-Jun-26 10:49:44

Kandinsky, do you mean The High Life?
He and Forbes Masson have just starred in a musical of the show. Alan is also involved in lots of shows at Pitlochry Theatre.

Kandinsky Tue 02-Jun-26 10:52:05

Sorry. Yes the high life!

Kandinsky Tue 02-Jun-26 10:52:34

What was come fly with me? I vaguely remember that grin

Grandmabatty Tue 02-Jun-26 11:54:05

It was a song in the 60s I think? Andy Williams?

Grandmabatty Tue 02-Jun-26 11:55:09

And also a series with Matt Lucas and David Walliams

Kandinsky Tue 02-Jun-26 12:06:40

Ah, yes. Matt Lucas / David Walliams. that’s the one.

Kandinsky Tue 02-Jun-26 12:07:47

But back to Tip Toe, I hope the ending isn’t as obvious as I’m expecting.

Magenta8 Tue 02-Jun-26 12:51:26

I have just finished watching the first two episodes.

I don't want to drop any spoilers but I think some pretty wide issues about the growth of bigotry and intolerance in society are being addressed in this drama. It is not just about being gay, trans or whatever.

Magenta8 Tue 02-Jun-26 13:04:44

I recommend it. I had forgotten how good the actors Alan Cumming and David Morrissey are and the rest of the cast are very strong too.

It will not be everyone's cup of tea and the trigger warning before the programme should be heeded.

LadyGracie Tue 02-Jun-26 14:09:38

We’re enjoying it, David Morrisey is always brilliant and Alan Cummings was great in The Good Wife.

We’re very surprised it’s been allowed to be shown on TV.

TwiceAsNice Tue 02-Jun-26 14:13:48

I have recorded it but not watched it yet

It was Frank Sinatra.

Grandmabatty Tue 02-Jun-26 14:40:47

So it was Petra! How could I mistake Old Blue Eyes

62Granny Tue 02-Jun-26 14:48:51

I love that they can both do can do both comedy and serious , I am enjoying as others have said the ending is looking obvious but will it be that ? 🤔.

vegansrock Wed 03-Jun-26 06:25:40

This is rather dark but so well written and acted. Yes lots of underlying themes of bigotry and hatred.

Grandmotherto8 Wed 03-Jun-26 14:04:15

I am a David Morrisey fan and actually enjoyed it after the shocking start.

if they would just act normal things would be fine, but its the constant need to point out they are gay, so in your face... heterosexuals dont have flags and parades and wristbands etc and constantly mention it all the time,

I must admit I do find the constant need for flamboyance rather wearing. And we turned this off after the first half an hour.

I'm loving it and can't wait to see how it unfolds.

missdeke Wed 03-Jun-26 16:50:53

I can't bear looking at Alan Cumming with that awful moustache and that ridiculous haircut. I just keep thinking Hitler, so I don't think I'm going to be able to watch it.

Sorry. Yes the high life!

Ditto Alan Cumming, love him! he was great in the High Life. The first time he came to my attention! My sons loved it too! So funny and silly. I still remember bits and the theme tune….
