Do you have any favourite relaxing TV series or films?

Recently I decided to stop watching the news politics etc and I started to watch Hetty Wainthrop on BBC iplayer.

The music, settings and the characters are so evocative of a more peaceful era.

I have just finished the whole series and am on the lookout for another, so this thread is useful for giving me some pointers.

I've started series 1 of Death in Paradise and will watch one a night. There are about 16 series I think
My 2 podcasts have just finished so I am looking for a new one. The Book Club was too much for me as he seemed to read the books so quickly I couldn't keep up.

Just in case you think the same, I preferred later series to Series one and two.

There are also a few Christmas episodes to watch out for.

I like to be quiet on my own with a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Murder mysteries, but I know the dialogue of my favourites off by heart.

A bunch of young friends making their living . Its good to remember that many young people do just get on with life , fix what's broken, have fun and make the most of everything without recourse to botox, designer outfits, nail and hair extensions, screaming matches.

I feel like one of the cast, seen them so many times,
but the combination of the scenery, the language, the clothes, the houses, village life, plus the occasional murder, but nothing too gruesome or shocking.

The 1950’s, so evocative. The class system, still so evident, the aristocracy, the middle and working classes, the maids and cooks….

Or, I might put on a couple of "This American Life" episodes if I didn't want to gawp and just wanted audio.

When I want to chill and relax I probably don't choose "relaxing" things I tend to choose "mindless" or funny ones.

"Gogglebox" and Have I got News for You" spring to mind.

I love the old black & white British films. One I go back to time and again is The Happiest Days Of Your Life. Alastair Sim and Margaret Rutherford star in this hilarious film. I had it on DVD but it's very likely on YouTube.

Not to or film, but I relax by listening to podcasts.
A relaxing one is Rosebud with Giles Brandreth who chats with various people about their lives. Often find myself dropping off when listening to this 🤣🤣
